A few questions about NA and EU releasesFollow

Question 1:

Is it possible / allowed for a foreign player (from europe in this case) to buy the NA version and play the game by paying with a credit card from europe while being in europe? If it's possible and not allowed will it be like FFXI (they just don't care in FFXI aslong as you pay)

Question 2:

When the european version releases is it possible for NA players(or europeans playing the NA version) to create a character on both american/european servers and vice versa(will people playing the european release be able to play NA servers), like it was in f.e. diablo 2 by simple selecting your desired gateway?

Question 3:

About when does the european version release?

Question 4:

Will there be sufficient/powerfull servers for european people to play the NA version without LAG issues (by LAG i mean consistent lag issues day in day out, not the regular spike the NA players will experience from time to time, which ofcourse is perfectly normal for a good game to have)...

Hope my questions are understandable. And please give me answers that are correct so I know for sure that I can buy the NA version without having the risk of not being able to play it, thus wasting alot of money.

Thanks for your time.

Greetings AereozZ

From what I understand from what Blizzard has said, European players couldnt buy the NA version and play it unless they have a Credit Card (Not sure if it matters from where) and a US Mailing Address. I think thats the key point is the address.

I cant really say this will stop others, but back in the Dreamcast days I was hooked on Phantasy Star Online, and bought the Japanese Version. To sign up, you needed a Japanese Mailing Address. Well after searching on the internet for a bit, i found a website with tons of Japanese Address for selling homes. I used one of them and was able to play. And believe me, i wasnt the only person to ever do this.

Sorry so long, and only anwsering one of your questions. Hope it helps.

thanks, but does anyone actually know if it will be like playing final fantasy from europe if u buy the NA version?

basicly a mailing address in the states is no problem coz i have some friends there that don't mind me using theirs.

but over the credit card issue, i can hardly imagine that it would be a problem to use a european card on a NA game ... since it wasn't a problem whatsoever with FFXI.

can someone please tell me if blizzard is going to be actively blocking europeans playing the NA game or that they prefer not to have to many like ffxi did? but it's actually no problem if u still buy the NA game.

The thing is they are trying to make it extremely hard for people overseas to play on NA servers(so i dont think you would be able to unless you had a NA friend pay for the account and u pay em back). So expect it to be hard for you to play :( sorry. Unlike FFXI they want you to NOT play EXCEPT on your designated servers...at all :/

I'm in a similar boat (well, not ME exactly since I live in NYC but several folks in my usual playgroup).

I'm ordering several copies of WoW (one of the above mentioned friends is paying, just so he and his wife and brother and sister-in-law can play with the folks they know). When they arrive, I have Fedex envelopes already made out so when the Fedex guy arrives with the boxes, I'll hold him there, rip it open, seperate the boxes into their respective Fedex envelopes, then send them out at the same time I got 'em.

When the Euro friends sign up, they'll all use my home address but their own credit cards. Now, we may modify this if it turns out Blizzard's gonna use billing address. Easy way around that is gamecards.

We in europe is most likely gonna get loot lag if we play on US servers, however you don't have to play with those irritating EU ppl who can't speak english if you play on the US servers...
Is this what they call a conondrum? :P

This is astonishing they would do such a thing, I understand localised servers for lagtimes but there should be a choice. No offence to Europeans but as an Englishman I would prefer to play on a server with Americans/Canadians and Austrailians, ie the English speaking world. I don't want to have half of general chat in french/german.

The delayed European release is another kick in the teeth. I loved WoW in beta alot, but if they can treat you so bad when selling to you, the future looks bleak about how they will treat us later.

Well i have my own NA address at my disposal which belongs to parents of a friend of mine. So that is no problem. I just wonder if I can use my own Credit Card (Mastercard).

Edit: Typo

Played NA Beta on a east coast server from Germany and had no noticable lag above any one else who was playing from the states.

My copy will be arriving about a week or so after NA release thanks to the joy of the APO address system. My zip code shows NYC even though I live in Germany since that is where the hub for APO AE mail is.

Well actually its not for lag for the most part (we all know thats a bunch of bull). Vivendi has been losing a LOT of european sales because the EU people just import from NA and get the game months early anyway. The lag thing is just putting a reason out there instead of saying "we dont haft to have a reason".

One thing with the local servers, is that there is no translator to talk to them. So if French speaking Europeans join on the NA servers, there is zero communication to be established. Coming from FFXI, i loved the Translator, wasnt the best in the world, but you could communicate with others who spoke different languages. Thats my only concern on Localized Servers.

But besides that, i dont care if someone from European comes over to play on the NA servers as long as we could communicate. I can speak very little French, from what i remember from my college classes from a few quarters ago. So to all Europeans and everyone else going through WoW withdrawl, good luck and we might see you on the servers (Either now or on the EU Release Date)

Well the real question is still not answered .... is it possible to play while you are in europe on american servers, by using american address and a european credit card.

I'm not talking about what blizzard prefers i'm talking about is it possible like in ffxi to just take your american address and your european CC and play (ofcourse speaking english). Because to me it's logical that if we wanna play on NA servers we should speak our fair share of english and not mess up the community by speaking our native language.

Hate to say it, guess we'll find out on Tuesday. But 95% of the time, there will be a loop hole.
