Was playing my dwarf hunter, and i had died when i had recieved lagged and a few bears aggro'd me. Had clicked Resurrect and was waiting for a good while, and i saw someone ask a question and got laughed at. The question is highlighted in red, and the person laughing highlighted in blue.

If you don't have anything nice to say, please keep it to yourself. This is one of the reasons why I am "/leave 1" come retail.

Actually I have to say, the fact that some one had to ask that question is very scary. I likly wouldn't say anything because, well, I'm still in shock ><

I agree with the /leave general. We need to start another channel for less-general chat. I miss talking to people, but don't miss the mass stupidity that occurs on general.

Heh.. I agree, it was kinda funny.

Anyways, there's nothing keeping anyone from having a "general allakhazam" channel :).

best thing to do is get into a guild before retail. Or make one.

I hated the fact that in other mmos people would yell that crap and you could do anything about it. Well in Eve Online yeah but then again its rare to see that in that game.

I apologize if this post is "useless and taking up space". But General Channel just brings the whole enjoyment down. In most areas (like most human areas, some of them just sprout useless crap in general) i automatically turn it off, even if it means I wont know if someone is gathering a group for an instance or elite quest. Here are some of the examples...

1.) Bush vs. Kerry- Election is over. Lets not go into Bush being a "dirty redneck that is retarded" or Kerry being a "gay lover that flip flops". Leave real life politics in real life

2.) OMG, TEH LAG!!!- sorry if i sound harsh, but please STFU. Also please refrain from sending in "bug reports" about the lag. Blizzard knows it is there.

3.) Can someone give me "insertammount"- Money is easier to make in this game, this isn't FFXI. If you cant take the moment to kill a few things, and at least vendor it off, then find another game or don't ask for money.

4.) This game sucks!- Okay, if you fell that stronge about it, then just log off and uninstall. We have enough people on the message boards doing that, we don't need it in game.

Yes, it does work the hard part is gettin gpeople in there. A plus, it'll work across the whole horde or alliance on your server, not just in your local zone. Basically it works like a linkshell instead of a guild, and you can also be in a guild at the same time ^^

Everyone, /join Allakhazam when you log in. Lets get a nice community in-game. Invite others to join, make it a nice little not-guild!

LOL Do you have to pick up mail from a mailbox...wow, that is funny.

It is also funny that someone laughing at that is causing someone else to not want to play the game. When did everyone get so thin skinned. That is mild...stick aoround and you will see a lot worse.

Oh, and you amy want to duck out of this forum, because I happen to know of at least one thread right now that is heating up far more than the example you showed. :-)

So start one on your server :)

Very good comments. Very true. The drone of non-game realted 'stuff' is reallt a drag. I have a feeling it will minimize after retail. People will be more into their characters when they are playing the ones that they are going to be keeping...meaning they will be more inerested in discussing in game stuff. Not that it will ever go away...just minimize.

Can we add the "can I ahve your/a beta account" posts on this board to the list of stuff that needs to go away? :-)

(But the mailbox comment is still great. I would have had to issue an obligatory LOL - full blown character laughing emote- if I saw that scroll by)

Why is it that every one of my replies was rated down?
#16 Nov 17 2004 at 11:06 PM Rating: Decent
This is stupid, I hate how people make any deal whatsoever of what happens in some dumb general channel on some server I'm not even on.

You cant stop them, but you can turn it off.

WHY do people even get bothered by this is BEYOND me. You must be pretty uptight.

To OP: Personally I didn't see him as being to offensive to the person asking the question. I'm sure the guy laughed at himself in real life. It was a question with an obvious answer, EVERYONE asks a couple of those in their life time. As for the rate downs it's probably people that thought you were trying to make a big deal about nothing in their opinion. It was needless useless rate down.

To Anyone: Answer me this question please. I'm not in Beta of any sort, and have heard nothing on this issue, but can you really do /join Allahkazam and be in a chat channel with everyone else who does it accross your server?

Yes... /join allakhazam will work. Anybody else who does that as well will be able to chat much like a general chat channel.

It will create a number and name it Allakhazam.

So instead of... [1. General Chat] Minas: Hey guys!

it would be ...

[7. Allakhzam] Minas: Hey allakhazam guys!

Then to chat on it, you'd just have to type /7 <text> instead of /1.

I have a better idea instead of always having to /leave 1.

Step 1: Level to 30ish
Step 2: Go to Desolace
Step 3: Enjoy complete and utter silence.

While leveling Grimbly, I believe I had conversations with 5 people maximum over all the quests that I was working on in Desolace. The sad part is that it's a beautiful zone, and over the last couple months has gone through some heavy facelifts. I encourage any horde players to spend at least a little time there, the easiest way to get there is probably through the Scorched Vale (read: Stonetalon Mountains)

chat system seems pretty cool. easy to use and what not. think its gonna be changed for the retial, maybe a backround or something to make it easier to read. all the screenshots and fraps ive seen so far the text scrolls way to fast to follow and it sorta seeems to blend into the backround

we should start a seperate thread to just vent about the stuff we run into over general chat...

like:

i'm in blackfathom deeps and this one player says something like
"i don't want to be a night elf anymore, night elves are ****. this game is gay."

the point is, dropping derogatory speach in general chat is just not acceptable, and its even less acceptable for me because one of my oldest friends (grew up next door to me) was beaten so severely he's in a coma, and has been for a month. this all went down because he has a problem stepping down and somebody caught my friend holding hands with some guy, or something like that (witness reports vary and we've not heard from my friend's date).

but i'm sure all you reasonable people here would never say that sort of thing, and i'm not here to preach to the converted.

in any case... i confronted said player about what they had said and got the expected response: "y do u care so much if u r not gay too? *** noob"

i too do not step down. all i said in response was " i care because that way of talking offends a lot of people (me included)." and of course, dude starts bugging me and /yelling about me being gay or whatever (actually i got way more "noobs" than "gay"). i paged a gm, and that player had their account revoked, i believe... i know that they were banned from the open beta, and the gm said that there had been other instances of this occuring and said that he was uncertain as to whether blizz would keep these people from retail or not (i don't think for a moment that blizz would seriously turn away customers).

so:

1. feel free to use this story to warn other players to "watch what they say" b/c it seems that a gm has ready access to the chat dialogues (this is what i imagine i will be doing a lot of on the 23), and

2. blizz employees will follow up on the sort of tos violation i mentioned (both harrassement and offensive language, either of which, the gm said, could get you booted).
