This would explain why I'm missing most of my clothes and why a guy jabbing me with a knife, telling me I own him more then what I had...Figured it was a regular Friday night bar run... *shrugs*

i wasn't gonna say anything at first because this isnt the FFXI forums, although Wow is competiton for FFXI im sure this wont be the last thread bringing in FFXI or EQ2 for comparison or reference.

except for the few people begging for beta accounts, it seemed like a good 85% of the people posting here so far have a decent amount of common sense, i really hope you dont represent even the slightest minority of players in WoW with your level of ignorance.

edit: spelled accounts wrong and it *bleeped* it out hehe

It's good that you quit FFXI, Dragon, you obviously had no idea what was going on around you.

THFs are a very powerful class. They are excellent DDs, and the supreme form of hate control.

If you ever saw a THF do a Shark Bite for 1100 damage followed by a skillchain for 450 damage, you might rethink your dumbfounded idea.

OMG! Rate down for you. I'm glad i found this on the FFXI forums.
Did you ever play FFXI? Which job? Which lvl?
Ever saw a SATA+WS dealing 1000+dmg and that every minute without having to worry about hate unlike a Blm or Drk?
Did you ever watch the attack speed and accuracy of a Thf with tripple and double attack and hitting 90+% on a IT++ mob? Gaining TP as fast as Rng and Sam (without meditate).
Did you ever look at the damage over time instead the 1hit great axe = 1 hit dagger When great axe misses more often dealing NO dmg?
Go to WoW and play your job, the same job every day without the possibillity of a change.

I don't use this often but... you're realy a noob.

You know, alot of people including me slammed on him for speaking without knowning. However the better part of everyone was able to do so without slamming on WoW as an MMORPG.

Remember it takes a real noob to bash on an MMORPG and it's players (and future players) without knowing crap about crap.

What I find sad is that someone rated him up to have the thread appear again and then slam on him some more. Seriously, you guys are hating on a guy who doesn't know anything about the THF job. This is up there with Star Wars freaks that go nuts when others do not know who Darth Vader is. Give it a rest...

I already change my post to be less offending but what i said about WoW is a FACT. And please don't tell me about not knowing about WoW. I tried it for quite some time but don't think it's so great.

One man's fact is another man's opinion. You claim it's not as great as everybody said it would while I'll lean over and say it is everything I thought it would be. All I'm waiting for is the scientific research files take over the years that states that people who are awaiting WoW know nothing about WoW, even though nearly 1 million people are playing it. *sits and eats a cookie while waiting*

Umm, theres change in WoW, the exact same change that is in FFXI. You want to play a Class? you create a character of that class and go out and level it. In FFXI, you want to play a job? you go to your mog house and change your job and go level it. Difference? Very minimal, except for the fact that in FFXI you might be forced to play a job that you dislike only to play another job in which you do.

Lets not forget talent points for those leveling only one character. Lets you spec on a certain talent that the job specializes on, thus making your character truely your own. I could say something bad about FFXI here but I think I have enough talking about the damn game...

By the way, no offense OP, but I'm rating this thread down to be rid of it. Sorry :/

Thieves are OK in FF11.
I prefer a RNG or DRK with thief sub over a Thief.

I'd rather have a thief then a ranger

a ranger can do 2times more damage than a thf, think of it barrage = same dmg as SATA and when slugshot comes... forget it
and hit per hit... not to talk about, never saying thf arent good, thf r mostly used for hate control, while ranger r kinda the opposits, so having both in a pt is best
#40REDACTED, Posted: Nov 17 2004 at 7:43 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You want to know why I refer Thief as a “joke” class. It really is a waste of a class past subbing it. I am a 45 THF. I used it as a sub for my DRK (61). THF reminds me of a WHM. Minus the magic. Why?
#41 Nov 17 2004 at 7:48 AM Rating: Good
Well add another one and save me his liver. I will go good with some favre beans and a nice kiante. Your a tard red if all you see is damage then you don't understand FFXI thf at all. Its about the party and hate control and keeping your members alive. Yes the whm one hit did 20 damage and a thf will hit 4 times for 10 points doing get this twice as much damage. But it is not our job to consitantly deal damage that is what a rng and blm or far.

Thief is a good class only if you would like to pick chest/coffers, hunt for items, or sub it. Its crap as a main. I know that some will not agree, but it doesn’t really matter. I think its crap.

Hmm.. THF is crap. I agree. It was kinda crappy being the high scorer in Ballista. You would think I couldn't touch a 40NIN(since they have Utsusemi: Ichi and Ni) yet for some reason it was the other way around. Yes, THF is crap, and the WHM that you say can "outdmg THF" fell pretty damn fast. I love being underestimated, it keeps me far away from the really bad players in the game.

Please, enough of these FFXI>WoW and WoW>FFXI posts.

To answer the OP question, rogue does very good melee damage, possibly the best melee damage in WoW.

I think that FFXI ROX! er...for posting BS in our WoW forum. I suppose that means that the poor bastards do not have their own forum to go and post in.

You know, I could give a rats *** about FFXI...but I figured there was going to be comparisons, so be it. But after reading more about FFXI than WoW in this forum lately I am fed up. Would everyone STFU about FFXI?! We do not all play it and therefore we do not care to be inundated with information about it.

A small comparison here and there is ok...Look, I know my first couple of days in this game, I made reference to EQ because that was my point of reference. Every once in a while, I may still mention it, but it is directly related to the topic and relates to WoW...mostly though....after playing this game for more than 2 days, I found I could discuss this game...imagine that. I can discuss WoW now that I have played it for a few days. My brain was able to take in WoW stuff and I do not have to sit and ramble on and on about a different game.

Perhaps you FFXI players do not have this ability. Maybe FFXI is so embedded into your neurons that you mean to say "I think blah blah blah about the WoW Rogue" and instead you say "FFXI Thief blah blah blah FFXI blah blah blah FFXI blah blah blah FFXI".

Just go away. This is a WoW forum. If you want to talk about FFXI, you do have your own forum...maybe you just need to learn how a drop-down box works. Now look, you have made me say FFXI more times in one post than I have in my entire life up until this point.

So...regarding rogues..um, and I mean WoW Rogues, not FFXI thieves, in case any of you poor fools are still confused...They deal awesome damage. I had not played one before so I created one last night and had a blast. I made an Orc Rogue, because I had not really spent time as an orc. After playing one for a few levels (and by that i mean almost all night...hehe) and then looking at the abilities they get later, they will be awesome to have in a group. They will not be a tank though, poor little weak dudes. It is all about strike and duck for cover for them, I believe.

I think when retail hits I will add Troll Rogue to my list of have to have characters. I liked the orc, but I think troll rogue is a cool combo...orcs are big and meat headed...they need to be the tank types...trolls seem sinister and slinky, cool rogue material.

ok, I came from ffxi with a mnk/war and enjoyed bashing things a lot, but you can't go it without a theif. In WoW, I play a NE Rogue and a Dwarf Hunter. The rogue just smacks things upside the head.. build up some combo points and watch out.. Although I am liking my hunter more and more... the guns get better and the axes just slice through it all... I am throughly impressed with WoW in total, now we have to see what happens next year when D&D online hits and I can play a warforged artificer/warrior. Personaly in PnP rpg's I have a Tiefling, soul knife/psion; and holy crap watch out for her... its all about knowing your job, character, and abilities.

Rogues are awesome. Need I say more?!
