We signed up for the beta here, and just finished downloading and installing it about 6 hours ago. I was going to post a immediate first impression, but everyone in the house had to play for at least an hour. We're quite impressed.
We have two anti-mmorpg people and two FFXI players in the household, and the reviews are quite good. We're going to be cancelling FFXI and doing the WoW thing. Play control is excellent, and there is none of that sense of grind, grind, grind that was so annoying even to the hardcore with FFXI.
Graphics are stunning, and the variety of locations is amazing. We have a Tauren Warrior, and Undead Warlock and a Night Elf Druid. It is like there are three different games! I can't wait to all get to the mainland where we can see the different perspectives of the same place.
But what got me the most was the music. Not just background tunes, but mood-setting themes filled our living room in brilliant 7.1 surround sound (mmm.. game theater XP 7.1 <drool>). The notes seem to total change the RPGing experience.
I could go on forever, but I think this one is here to stay boys and girls!
Fushuya (soon to be changed from my FFXI name to my WoW name)
