I'm considering playing Dwarf Warrior. One of my friend got into open beta, so I could try it a bit, and I find it quite fun to play. But, from what I have read through the community warrior forums, many people thinks warrior is useless or not as good as other jobs. They seem to be quite outdamaged by rogues and also have trouble holding hate when they have to tank.

So, I'd like some inputs from people who have played warrior for a while in the closed beta. Is Warrior a viable job ?

I dislike Warrior.

Couldn't do good damage, couldn't hold hate, couldn't even solo well.

Up to level 19 so far, perhaps it gets better later.

I'm playing Priest in retail anyway.

Never judge any class from what is written on the "community forums." People use those places to rant, vent, whine, and just generally make a spoiled brat of themselves.

Warriors are *the* tanking class. Every group planning on doing an instance really needs to have one, which is not something that can be said about any other class. So take from that what you will about warriors being a decent class. Of course they will be outdamaged by rogues, because that is what rogues do - they damage things. Warriors, otoh, can TAKE damage like nobody else's business, which is something rogues most definitely cannot.

Jobs in this game are called classes.

Yes, I agree with Azurac, do not listen to the "community forum" people, all they do there is whine, vent, and rant.

Besides that, I have seen some warriors do some crazy damage, look at Idalamar for example. (even though they fixed that)

Some warriors choose awesome lines such as dual-wielding axes, or huge swords.

It's really the person BEHIND the character rather than the class itself.

If you liked Warrior, but that was your first time playing any class; I suggest you look at some other classes. If you don't like them, play Warrior. If you like Warrior - PLAY IT!

Only advice you should take from anyone on blizz forums is blue posts. All else is meaningless ramblings.

Ok, thx for your inputs. I am also considering going 2h-Axe and/or Dual Wielding Axe, I just like dual-axe :). Also, from what I can see, warriors seems to be THE tanking class... wouldn't that be the main role of paladins ?

If you look at alot of the paladin abilities, they really rank closer to a uber tough bard. They COULD tank (and do it quite well) if they could only hold the hate. Warriors are super customizable because of their battle stance and talent choices. I think alot of the whining about warriors not being as good is just spawned from the changes made to them not that long ago which fixed some of their bugs and ended some of their more abusable abilities.

Paladin is more of a support tank to buff the party and backup heal/rez.

I personally did not enjoy my time playing a warrior...but it was a limited time and I was wanting to get back to my druid. I played an Orc warrior.

My son, on the other hand, loves his Orc Warrior and is planning on playing that as his main when retail hits.

It is really preference. I don;t think there is a question that warriors will be the tanking class and thus be one of the most desired classes in the game for grouping. The trade off is not being able to heal...but with baking or alchemy, that could be taken care of, actually.

I think if I were to play a Warrior I would do alchemy so that I could make healing potions for myself and use them to keep the downtime, wel, er...down.
