L19 Now ... getting bored... Need some pointers ...Follow

I'm just about L20. While I'm excited to get the L20 abilities (including Aspect of the Cheetah), I'm starting to get tired of grinding.

I've done lots of quests, but it seems that I currently spend most of my time grinding and running around.

I want to start trying out some of those *fun* things that people are always talking about - such as instances and PvP. I'm on a PvE server and I have no idea where to go to find some PvP action. I also have no idea where there are any instances.

Also, I'm getting tired of Auberdeen and I have most of the quests there done. Where does a night elf head to after Auberdeen?

I've tried asking in the general channel, but it's full of Elitist closed-beta players who just call me a noob.

I think what I really need is a good guild...

But anyway... Any direction/motivation would be very much appreciated.

best thing to do is to ask around on your server (via the general chat) if someones planning a "raid" even on the pve servers you can pvp. even you can organize a raid, once your groups ready attack npcs from the orther faction to flag you for pvp. once the other faction players see you guys as a threat they can engage and the carnage will follow shortly. (i participated in a 80 allience raid party in the 1st stress test)

I also advise you hit the pvp server when the game goes gold or make a character in the pvp server and test it out before the game goes gold.(at char selection screen just hit the select server and select a pvp server)

also you can ask people if they want to duel ya.

thats about all i can tell you since i have not played in a instance yet.

It's time for you to go to Dead Mines, bro! Just get a few buddies and sattle up! Which leads me to my next point: In terms of enjoyment, it is much like FFXI where you need a guild! Which reminds me, I'm finally up and running so I'll come bother ya ;P

There's also Wailing Caverns and Shadowfang Keep you can enjoy yourself in...

As for PvP Action, get a raid going and attack an enemy NPC. That'll get you some laughs!

But the biggest problem is what you are doing, King, and that's grinding. The world is pretty open enough yet leads you down the road easily. I bet you just got used to Darkshore, is all. Time to set out. Remember this is not FFXI where there is always a set place to level. Continue on that road and get to questing.

Assuming you're on right now, I'll give you a holla!

I'm not much into PvP, but I would suggest trying Hilsbrad as your best bet. It'll be a haul to get there at your level, but easily doable. Take the boat to Menethil, run down the road, and take the North fork into Arathi and follow that west to Hilsbrad. There is a flight point at the town of Southshore. Be careful in Arathi.

For instances, you really couldn't have done any up until now. I usually don't advise going in until level 20, but the first Alliance instance is in Westfall, called the Deadmines. You'll need to travel to the human lands for that. A few levels later, (I recommend 25,) you could do Blackfathom Deeps, which are a Night Elf region instance.

There's only one exit to the zone, so that's probably the answer. =p
Seriously, head south to Ashenvale. The Tower of Althalaxx should have already pointed you in that direction to talk to Delgren the Purifier. Between AV and Stonetalon south of it, you should have enough quests to keep you busy for a while, albeit there is a small leveling gap to make the transition. Start with the Zoram Strand quest, and find the quest guy at the south end of the beach when you get there for an extra quest you can do in the process.

If you're level 19, still in Darkshore, and still have quests left, you MUST have been doing a lot of grinding. I usually have to make an effort to kill excess random creatures as I travel just to get to 18 before I finish there, and I'm using 13 when I leave Teldrassil.

While I support the actions of any Night Elf who stays in the NE lands, the typical path, and which sounds like a reasonable choice for you, is to travel to Stormwind and do quests in Westfall and Redridge. This will give you the options to do The Deadmines and later The Stockades at your whim. When you get to level 24 or so, hop back to Ashenvale and you should be able to breeze through the earlier quests, compared to the difficulty you will have if you go there at 19.

You have much content left to explore.

I suggest taking a boat from auberdeen to the wetlands, from the wetlands head to loch modan (head west then south), then to dun morogh (take the first right), then to ironforge (follow signs). From ironforge take the tram to stormwind (ask a guard), and head over to westfall (south to goldshire then west).

Then do the defias storyline and go with a group into the deadmines.

I believe the quest story lines from Auberdine direct you straight into Ashenvale, where you will find Blackfathom Depths, which is an elite dungeon that contains its own instance further in. Level range for PTs seems to be about 19-22, but it would take a damn good party to get all the way through the instanced portion. But just because you can't finish it doesnt mean you cant go in. The money/xp is really nice, the action is fun, and since the mobs are elite they have a better chance of dropping nice uncommon items that are close to your level range.

Ashenvale is also the closest night elf controlled area to the horde sections i believe, there are regular raids taking place in and around Ashenvale all the time on my server (beta7), and some of the quests actually take place in horde controlled areas.

If you haven't already, I would suggest you take a trip on over to Ironforge and check out the auction house and upgrade your equipment, the creatures in this area are all 19+ to it may be a bit difficult at first to do some of the quests solo, you just kinda have to pick and choose, see what you can do and maybe move on if it gets to hot.

Try putting together your own pick-up groups, or voice that you would be willing to join one. It seems alot of people are content with soloing, but it seems that few can resist the urge when someone announces their own plans to form one.

Umm.. well in defense of whoever you're talking to:

You're not forced to group, because you can still level up and do quests just fine without a group, you just have to take a bit longer to get to that content because you need to gain a few extra levels so that you can handle it on your own without help. In FFXI you pretty much could not get any xp unless you grouped. You could kill easy cons with most jobs for 12-36 xp at a time, with a good 2-3 minutes of downtime between each fight, but whats the fun in that?

With WoW you can still fight mobs that are 1-2 lvls higher then you, win, and have super low downtime with food/drink. or fight many many enemies that are 1-4 lvls lower than you with short downtime and still good xp. In any event, you're not forced to group to advance, you're just forced to group if you want to get to the content right away.

maybe you should quit the game.

Yes. I did say that.

How the HELL did you associate anything I said in this thread with anything I said about people who played FFXI for a whole year just to compain?

I didn't say I didn't like WoW... I said I was getting bored and was looking for things to do. I WANT to party in WoW. I do enjoy playing solo as well.

I'm not quite sure what pissed you off, but for being an *** you get a generous rate-down.

Find a quest that is orange or red in difficulty and also says "elite" next to it. Then find a pt.

Some of the most Ive had is soloin but doing extremely touch quests with a good pt is also a lot of damn fun.

Uhm, like I really care about you rating me down?
I'm pissed at you, because you came into a thread and basically called everyone names and acted like a little child.

Male night elf dance is based off Michael Jackson's old dance style young'un.

So ya it is kind of weird.

Well nothing beats the dwarven Cossack dance! And you could always go exploring, I really love the landscapes in this game. And without zoning everytime you enter a new area, you kinda get a fealing of wilderness and the size of the world. And when all else fails, you can always go get ****-faced at the local tavern.

Sorry man but isn't that what you're doing right now? Yea, you have to replace "everyone" with "the orig. poster" but still. I'm sure you don't care but I have to rate you down too. You should feel special, I rarely rate anyone down.

Hmm, maybe you should care seeing as how your number of posts and the amount of rate downs you are going to incur are just going to cause you to be one ignored lil troll.

Am I the only one who only looks as people's post-count and rating as mere novelty numbers, and not the person's net-worth on the message board?

AZA - Not really. However the Karma system exist's for a reason. Most people have filters on, and when someone goes "sub-default" you no longer see their posts.

So generally, those that are asshats and post comments as above, get dropped out of existance. It's just the way of the world.

The post count was reference to the amount of kharma knockdowns he will recieve due to being rated down, not because of how many times he has posted. ratings on the other hand are ussually better because most people will not be at a low rating for no reason.
