I've been playing FFXI since early this year and have no intention of stopping anytime soon. But, I may consider playing both WoW and FFXI at the same time, therefore I got in on the open beta just to see if I want to buy the retail version.
Didn't have much time to play yesterday (since the download took sooooo long and I had obligations in FFXI), but there were a couple things I noticed and couldn't figure out in about 30 minutes of playing.
I'm going to refer to everything in FFXI terms, I hope someone here knows what I'm talking about. ;)
Can you get a full 360 degree view of your character, like in FFXI? Can you swing the camera around like that? I noticed in running around yesterday that I had a hard time moving the camera to my liking.
Secondly, can you heal like in FFXI to restore HP? If so, how do you? If not, how do you restore HP in the field?
Any other tips for new WoW players? What are some of the first things I should do? Please try to relate them to FFXI if you can, I'll understand them better.
I must say, I'm impressed so far with WoW. It has some thing in just the character creation process that I wish FFXI had. The graphics are a nice change, as well. People just have different tastes, which makes them choose one over the other usually. It's sad to see people get put down on forums like this for liking one game over another when it's all personal preference and opinion.
I'm a FFXI player, but I'm asking for help to try to understand your game better, so please go easy. :)
