Don't get Open Beta!Follow

#1 Nov 10 2004 at 4:02 PM Rating: Decent
That's right, don't get it!

Or, well, if you do, don't go on Test 4.

It's insane how much lag we gained as soon as the Open Beta started, and for some reason everyone seems to like Test 4. :X

Aw well, anyone else notice a huge lag issue on their server from Open Beta? :\

I just joined yesterday, but I've noticed some pretty impressive lag spikes nonetheless. Died twice in battles cuz of it and I've accidentally run off a high place during a lag spike at least 5 times.

I heard people complaining about lag ALL day yesterday and last night...never saw a bit of it...of course, I'm not anywhere near the newbie zones so I maybe thats why.

I just logged off when I died on test 4 and it took me 5 minutes to spawn at a graveyard. or when it took 2 minutes to loot a mob.

BTW, test 4 seems to be THE place to PvP with the big boys, hense why a lot of people are running there.

I've played almost exclusively on Test 4. With 2 systems, 1 having a P4 2.4 processer and 512MB of RAM and the other an Athlon 1.4 with just over 1G RAM, both during peak times and I've seen some slight lag. Believe me, it is NOTHING compared to the LAG that SWG saw when in Coro or Theed on a busy night. The worst I encountered was maybe 2 15 second delays in a 5 minute period. Not bad, in my book. Now I was strictly PvE so I can't vouch for it's effect on PvP. But this is a stress so most issues should be resolved by release.

Lag seems to be entirely based on server population. I had no problems at all during two runs through Ragefire Chasm, but both came after midnight; between 8:30 and 10:30 the lag was so severe on Test 1 it was almost unplayable.

I was in the 1st stress test and noticed very similar type of lag during that. I did read on the blizzard forums that they were aware of it and were working to remedy it, (and to stop posting about it =)). I would assume todays downtime has something to do with it.

But hell, what do i know?

Why do you think there is so much lag? They are getting ready for it to go live. If people don't log in and use it then how are they supposed to know what to fix?

I'm sad because theres some major PvP there. I made a char there and quit after getting so much goddam lag I switched to 16. 16 is nice and sweet no lag at all just crashes sometimes for me, like once every 2 hours. Anyways there are a bunch of raids that were started while I was playing so I'm not dissapointed. I'm surely going to try to go to a really populated server in Retail so I can have some fierce PvP competition.

They will fix it, not to mention all the people playing ob will not be in retail.

I doubt we'll see this kind of lag when it goes retail...the reason being, so many of the people playing it right now are just doing it because its free and they want to check it out. yes many will like it and buy it..but I bet quite a few will stick to their own games, like FFXI...for various reasons.
