A paladin hands down will out survive a warrior, but not have as much damage potential as a warrior. If you want something that does pure damage, you'd want a rogue. Something that is pure survivability/tankability, that would be the paladin. If you want something inbetween, that would be the warrior. However, with the warrior talents you could take and tailor it to fit more of whichever role you wanted.
You could spec it to tank well (still not like a paladin tho) while being able to dish out more damage then a paladin. Or you could spec it to deal damage (but not quite as well as a rogue) but be able to tank better then a rogue.
Also warrior has the ability to freely switch between tank, balanced, and offensive modes. The severity of these changes is also dependant on your talents.
Paladins can also be turned into more offense oriented, but will never come close to a warrior speced for offense, just like warrior defense will never come close to a paladin speced for defense.
