My biggest fear....Follow

#1 Nov 10 2004 at 9:40 AM Rating: Decent
I'm hoping that all of the jackasses from EQ that take EQ WAY too seriously will come to WoW and ruin it with 24/7 raids and door clogging. IMO that would destroy everything fun about WoW and turn it into a non-stop rush just to get to high level and raid day and night.

Just like EverQuest was pre-Luclin Exp. Pack, fun and not raid oriented, WoW seems to be. But just yesterday, in the three hours i played WoW, i came across at least 20 people acting as if they owned the world because they were level 20. Just seems to EverQuest playerish to me and im hoping it doesnt turn like EQ is now.

Any other opinions on the matter?

Well if you don't whant all the frequent raids, you have the option to choose a PvE server. However, I do understand you about all those players that spend 24 hours a day on the game, getting to high levels and going to town just to link their new weapon on trade. Those suck.

Well, that certainly is not my biggest fear. (black widow spiders under the toilet seat would be up there though). Smiley: grin

But, I do agree with you. I still play EQ but will probably completely abandon it now that I have found WoW to be so much fun. It is really hard trying to keep EQ simple and just enjoy it as a game with so many people that act as though they are special because they were able to invest hundreds of hours on a silly toon. Cockiness and arrogance centered around the level of a toon in a video game is moronic to me.

I have news for all of those who think getting to high level and having the best gear and coolest titles and most AAs makes you better than others...it is not that impressive, and you are missing the point, which is to have fun. And, really, what does it really say about you when you can spend 15 hours + a day in a video game.

I agree that WoW really has an appeal for those of us who cannot be in game all of the time or may only be able to spend an hour here and there sometimes. EQ was that way early on. Even those who did level fast seemed much more helpful and considerate back in the early EQ days.

Oh well...I believe MMORPGs have evolved to the point that there are cocky bastards that will show up in any of them with warped and twisted sense of self importance (I can prove I am great...look at my toon! Yeah, uh huh.) Lighten up, have fun!

Unplug…. play golf, it’s very fulfilling...in the game and out. Plus if you have investors….well, it becomes a real money thing. Your character in the game should reflect the person, not the other way around. (i.e. people believing that they are some kind of gift to the fantasy world they live in.) Hence my in-game name will be Whackit =P

I could be wrong, but isn't the upper level raid content and dungeons instanced so you don't have to share it? I've only been playing a week, so I'm only like 15 or so, and I haven't seen it yet. But I could have sworn that all that stuff would be instanced.

Oh, well if you are only level 15 and new, I don't think I will share that info with you. Just leave. Get out of the game and leave it for those of us who know what we are doing, noob!

LOL j/k of course. Smiley: grin

I am not sure about instanced zones at higher levels. I know many of them are but not sure about all of them. I have only gotten to 15 with a character myself. hehe. I decided for beta I wanted to experience different races and classes rather than high levels, so i keep making new toons to try out.

Whats so wrong with raids? unlike in EQ they are not required for advancement in the game. They are fun, and exciting, and add challenge to the high end game. You dont like raiding, you dont have to do it.

At least now you dont have to compete with others for the same raid content.

*CHEERS!* I may end up moving to WoW after having spent 6+ years with EQ. My highest level character has only made it to 53, with little to no interest in the grind of pushing up to 65 (I have a ton of alts), much less 70. I ended up starting up my own guild in EQ after having experienced a guild disbanding. It is large and built for casual players, but really EQ is not designed well for casual play. I am tired of the grind, but I will wait on retail to hit WoW. I grabbed three open betas (two for two boxing, and a third for a friend) and so far I like what I see, but what do I know? I only made it to seven so far. =P I am taking it slow and enjoying the game from a fresh perspective.
