Took me 20 hours on a cable modem, so your experience seems normal.

:-(

That's it - that one file. It's 2.6 GB, which is huge in terms of download. Even if you managed a good connection, it's a 4-hour download.

The one thing about Blizzard Downloader is it sometimes speeds up... Just make sure you don't turn down the "upload" speed, because if you do, you get your download bandwidth cut.

Just be patient - you'll be playing by this time tomorrow :)

How exactly does the "cancel and resume the download" thing work? I just cancel out, and next time i want to resume, I just tell the blizzard installer to install to the same directory, and it will jump to the same point it stopped?

I'm being held hostage by Blizzard Dl'er. I can't believe it, I held at the very MINIMUM, 10kb/sec for the whole 2.6 gb/dl, now i get to the last 1% (im actually at 3.5MB left to go) and it drops to 2kb/sec Dl speed, all the while Im uploading at over 35kb/sec average. What is this, a hostage situation to gank your bandwith as long as possible? I find it hard to believe I cant get the last 3 MB at a 20-30kb/sec DL speed innstead of 2kb/sec.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Let me add (in edit) that I'm now at 0.2 Mb left to go with 0.0 kb/sec dl speed, I could rip someone's head off right now.

Ouch man ... good luck >.<;;

I'm still glad that I paid the $7.90 for a month of File Planet. To me, it's $7.90 I won't have to spend on hair dye to cover up the grey hairs I woulda got if I had to download that 2.6 GIG *****.

Its a monster! Im running a 256 DSL and Im in hour 14 now, just hit 46%, bounces between 14kbps- 22kbps, upload rate is 43kpbs! My buddie on a 3mb cable got it all in 3hrs. I'll have another 16hrs probably. My suggestion, bear with it a while or have someone burn it for you.

Couple things:

1) You can download it from www.fileplanet.com. You may have to wait in line for it but it will be faster than Blizzard.

2) Blizzard Downloader is a distributed DL system. This means that you are downloading it from someone who is uploading what they have already downloaded.

This person could be on a 56kb modem line which means, even if you have cable access, your DL will be no faster than what they upload as. Furthermore, even if they have cable, cable usually has restricted upload speeds so you are still SOL.

There is a problem with the Blizzard Dl'er. For example, I was done downloading, had played my fill of WoW that evening, so I loaded the Dl'er back up to UL the file to as many people as possible. Whats the problem you ask? The whole night I only uploaded like 19MB, and I can upload up to speeds of 50 kb/sec. That inn my opinion is plain wrong. I know out there, someone had to need those files, and could have used the bandwith. The old downloader used to allow me to pull speeds up to 100kb/sec dl'ing. That was on stress test Beta, I'm pretty sure that happened. At any rate, there wasn't much more i could do to help you all get it any faster and I tried to help. Hopefully Blizzard takes a look at it, and modifes the code to take advantage of generous Uploaders.
