Does anyone know any other way to get the WoW zip file? I tried downloading it last night, and it was putting along at 20kb per second, got to about 3%, and when I woke up today, it had stopped.

Now I just tried downloading it again after I set up my account at WoW.com, and it's going at 4kp per second. I would honestly rather wait for retail than have it bog my computer down for 4 days straight while it downloads. I have no problems downloading anything else at 100-200kb per second. If this is really just because so many people are downloading it, I give up. You guys can have it.

I'm having the same problem. It goes up to 40 then slowly goes back down to 0 and slowly back up...constantly, it doesn't stay at any one number for more than 3 seconds. Oh well I'm just gonna let it go, if I get it before the test is over, then joy. If not, I'll just buy it. lol

Unfortunately, no. There isn't another way around it. Do you know anyone that has it that could possibly send it via an Instant Messaging program for you? Maybe burn it to a DVD for you?

Unfortunately there does not appear to be a better way to download the file from the Blizzard downloader.

I followed the instructions Blizzard provided on port forwarding if you are using a router and the same for my firewall and this has increased the speed a bit.

I was getting download speeds of about 5 - 20 kb/s and now I am getting around 20 - 70 kb/s which is at least some improvement.

So anyone that is downloading the file may want to give those modifications a shot although the improvement is somewhat minimal.

i'm downloading the client from fileplanet. sure you have to wait in line for like an hour and a half but the download WILL finish when it starts and actually cruise along at great speeds instead of creep along at 10k/s like the blizzard installer and it won't kill your upload either.

I'm gonna try that neogel, thanks for the info.

970 in line now >.<

About the whole file transfer through AIM idea- tried that, still was downloading betweem 10-25kb per second. Anyone know a reason for that?

because that was the max upload speed of the person sending it to you.

Not sure what I'm supposed to do with that .torrent file...

Anyways, I'm currently 374/1015 in line on FP for the file. 99 minutes more, and I can start downloading. God I hope this works...
