Travel Question(s)Follow

#1 Nov 02 2004 at 6:55 PM Rating: Decent
Hello,

A friend and I are looking at getting into the open beta as a Troll Hunter and Undead Warlock respectively. This, however, means that we start on completely seperate continents. So my questions are:

1. How easy is it for me to travel from the Undead start point to the Troll start point? Ogrimmar I think is the major city in the area.

2. What level am I looking at having to solo to before I can go meet up with him? Is it going to require a lot of cash?

3. Am I, by travelling over to Ogrimmar, going to have problems completing my Warlock Quests? I know there is a quest to get the ability to summon an imp in or near the starting point of each race that can be warlocks, but if I am undead do I haev to do the undead one? Or can I travel over to Ogrimmar and do the Orc quests?

Thanks for the help.

The simplest method would be to get a Mage to teleport one of you to the other.

As for flight paths, you only get a flight path after you talk to the Bat/Griffon guy at the destination. In other words, you can't go to the other city until you actually go there.

Teleportation is your best bet.

Either that, or run like heck. It might take a lot of deaths, but you CAN get there.

Once you each go to your capital cities, around level ten, either of you can take the nearby zepplin that travels between Orgrimmar and the Undercity. After that, you can work together as closely or as loosely as you want. Afraid I don't know how this interacts with class-specific quests, though.

well, if u plan on being in a guild with this friend, get a high lvl warlock to join, and have him tele him
Other than that the other solutions stated work

Thank you very much for your answers. So there is a direct route between Ogrimmar and The Undercity, that's good to know. If it's not too expensive it won't really matter how it interacts with the quests, as it should be easy enough to just catch the zeppelin back. I guess specifics of cost isn't really going to be available till we get ingame, but from what I've read money making doesn't appear to be too hard, so cost probably won't be a problem.

Actually, the zeppelin is free. Riding bats or wyverns or griffons takes money, but the zeppelin is free. Just don't jump off...

yeah, jumping off hurts just a little bit.

Free? Even better. I can probably refrain from sky diving. Probably. At least more than once.

Will hearthstones make teleporting a less useful skill considering the mage doesn't get portals till lvl 40 and most classes will have mounts at that same level?

It just seems that once you get a hearthstone at the inn you and your buds agree on, you can just use the stone once per hour (think I read that somewhere) and self-port to the inn.

You actually *could* make the trip at level 1. Running to Ogrimmar along the road is safe, and the path to the zeppelin from there (a little to the east) is only slightly dangerous. Similar for the undead lands.

I'd wait until you finish your newbie areas - Valley of Trials and Deathknell, respectively.
