2500+ mb, well crap.

I'm just a sad little 56k dial up. I would get broadband, but there is nothing in the area yet. I know that the game itself plays fine on dial-up, because I have already read multiple posts on it.

EQOA, EQ, FFXI, and Guild Wars all have run flawlessly on my 56k. Though that file size is murder. I'm downloading it if for nothing more then just the fun of it. I kinda wish they would allow the ability to buy a CD from them with the current build on it for us 56kers.

Just getting out some frustration while here at work, wondering how far along my hopeless download is.

Well, think of it this way, you SHOULD have it DL'd by the time open beta is over.

I'd find it hilarious if someone bought the fileplanet subscription for the week off and then found out they couldnt download it in enough time to enjoy it.

If you managed a sustained 3kb/sec download rate, it would take you approximately 9.6 days to download it. Better start now! Then you could still start halfway through next week or so! If we're lucky open beta will be 2 weeks long, so that means you could still get 8 or so days of play time in before release.

Im hoping my rate speeds up even though it says I have a firewall on and ports are blocked or sommat like that. was keeping a nice 10kb-20kb after a while.

Heres to more people on BT!

the problem with blizzard using bittorrent is the fact that no one knows how to use it. for bittorrent to be effective everyone needs to leave there downloads open so that people can connect to them and get the info. blizzard never explained this and people dont know this so as soon as they finish they close the DL window and no one can get it from them. so it ends up with 5 people sitting on bittorrent dling from eachother becasue no one will keep there DL window up

it would actually be almost no waste of resources. bittorrent takes almost no banwith. i have had 3 open bit torrent files 2 of which were downloading and uploading and one was just uplading and i ran FFXI with no more lag than normal. your upload speed and download speed dont relly effect eachother so much. people could easily leave the client open so people can DL it and not see anything suffer. i plan on leaving mine up for a fiew days after i am done until i see that no one uploads it any more

Well when I left I was bouncing between 4kb-6kb (with occasional 8kb). The link I got for the download however was not from Fileplanet, it was the one actually on the www.worldofwarcraft.com site. I can only hope it was the right one.

I also determined if by the time I get home I haven't broken a certain amount of d/l that I will just wait till it hits retail.

If EBGames is right (which they usually are) then it will ship the 15th (last I checked). So this week is stress test, next week is open beta, and then the following week will be retail. Not too long to wait if I don't get it in time.

In the end MEH, I was just humoring myself to see how much I could download. I had already expected to be waiting till retail.

Look at it this way, sooner or later that client will be fully ready and downloaded. Granted by then retail will be here but its the thought that counts ^^

Just remember, you have to post lots of information here. Come the 11th i'll have Dungeon Lords to keep me busy, but if EB is right on the release date then I better get to the end of Dungeon Lords fast.

I'll be waiting for open beta. I'm too lazy and poor to go and sign up for fileplanet. Plus my computer is getting fixed so meh...

I will say that it will be worth it once ya play. Soon, bro, soon...

Anyways, keep in mind that open beta is the 8th. I plan to be both alliance and horde so I'll meet with whoever when they need me ;)
