so like....what do we do when its done downloading, has anyone gotten to that point? oh and i need an account but yeah, the link is bad
guys, just cancel your download until I'm done, then you can resume ;) lol
Romulux, that's a bad idea. You obviously don't understand how Bit-Torrent works. A Bit-Torrent tracker
increases in overall speed as more people join the network. As far as I can tell, there are maybe one or two seeds from Blizzard on the torrent, who are sending the files to all the thousands of people who found the early open beta link.
People who download more of the beta, end up uploading the pieces of the beta they have to those who don't have it. It's like internet communism at its finest. In fact, if everyone canceled their download until you were done (I know it's a joke), it would take even longer.
The fastest way to get the open beta is if all of you start it and leave it on. The initial speed will be terrible because the seeds will be doing the majority of the distribution but once more people get a larger amount of the data, speeds will begin to pick up. Sometimes to an insane amount.
As for the whole uploading speed thing, the more you upload to people on the tracker, the more connections the tracker will open up to other people allowing you to download more. It's called "anti-leeching" and it's built into the Bit-Torrent protocol.
