How much was your FFXI char worth?Follow

#1 Oct 25 2004 at 2:52 AM Rating: Excellent
So, when you quit how much were you worth?

Me, big fat zero

I gave my Astrals and White Cape +1 to Darksister, our LS's RDM powerleveler who never ever would accept payment for her services.

Gave my Windy signet staff (only used twice) to Mattea, the only Windy Wench in my LS that wasn't leaving at the end of the month (I think).

Gave my RSE to Billicans, who was about to go off and do the quest anyway.

And lastly, I sold all my assets off and entrusted the money to one person to make sure it goes to good use helping the few people left in my LS. I'll keep that person's name private, but lets just say someone's got a nice 1.9mil to put to good use ^^

I'm debating selling mine... I think I could get some decent money for her but I know alot of people that *aren't* quitting that would be upset over that. I'll cancel my account after the Halloween event. My curiosity draws me to it even though it will probably be stupid.

My only reservation is that I think when you sell characters, people can see your last payment address? I might just give it to a close friend or something. Bleh.

Well, my girlfriend and I decided to actually put our characters up on an auction site with a ridiculious reserve just to see if someone would buy them..... and they did.

My character = $750 USD
Girlfriends = $900 USD

We bought her an inexpensive Civic and I put a new motor into it, lowered it, all that fun stuff. All we ended up spending out of pocket for a car that will last her about 100k+ miles is $400.

Only reason we even sold our characters is because we were sick of the endgame politics and days and days of farming just to be in a decent guild. Underhanded players and people trying to get into guilds just so they could pass along information to people that they used to be in a guild with (think a spy).

EDIT: Glad to see people rating me down for letting them know how much I got rid of my character for. Good job guys, it reminds me why I left Final Fantasy XI in the first place, too many immature people who will rate someone down at the smallest disagreement of their beliefs.

I'm not entirely sure. I was constantly leveling up different jobs... last time I was on, I had a 25ish BRD, 35 THF, 40 WHM, all equipped as best as I could (which wasn't great but I tried anyway). I was going to take my WHM to go do some BCNMs, but nobody was ever available. I have no idea how much I'd fetch if I sold off my stuff...

I think I have about 2 Million if I was to sell all my stuff at the right time.

I have a few LS friends I'll prob. end giving my $$$ to. What I hate is the people who are just waiting for you to leave so they can ask for all the gil...

I just gave my stuff to my wife's character. She still plays that game.

Also..why does it seems like everyone on this board are people that played FFXI and are switching to WoW??

Of course wow is good. FFXI blew how it forced you to group just to get any decent exp.

But still..that leaves 99% of the posts from FFXI players heh

I "played" FFXI, but officially im making my switch from eq to WoW.

A lot of people probably played EQ and DOAC and other oldies before the newer batch of FFXI, L2, and CoH.WoW is the next "New" thing, so since the last batch of MMOs to come out were completely crap(dunno about CoH, hear good things if i hear anythign), you dont see a lot of people backtracking to old favorites like EQ and DOAC. This leaves a lot of people just biding their time for the next gen MMOs.

Besides, a lot of people had high hopes for FFXI.

The thing that finally broke FFXI for me was the sheer amount of 'seriously' noob like people. I dont mean the folk who've never played an MOG before, I mean the folk who havent, and refuse on all levels to try to learn. People who wouldnt skillchain, refused to try, pulled 50 purple mobs at a time... The list went on and on. I only made it to Quifim before I finally said ***** this. That place is hell, and combined with a huge core of players who refuse to learn or take good advice totally destroyed the relatively small amount of fun that game had to offer.

Frankly, I'm sorta scared to see the amount of FFXI players who are going to be playin' WOW. Hope some people took at least something from that game.

Ah well, 'least I know I'll be in a guild of old school EQ'ers who know will at least start on their feet with the basics of how things are done in a MOG. :D

Ready to rate me down kiddies?

First, I was worth a bunch, but who cares how much. I gave away about 1 million in Gil, and all my equipment for the 4 classes I played. At least all that I could. I gave these items to friends, and in some cases random people. If you begged you got nothing. People left the game with my gear in their pockets, and I said nothing, now you want free crap, get off me. You want something from me try this approach: “You think you’ll come back?” “Oh, well then can I hold some of your stuff. It would really be a big help to me.” Works better than: “What the hell, you’re leaving, give it to me!”

If someone wants to sell their account, so be it. Sure it sucks in many instances but that game effectively died when they released it on the PS2 in North America. I have never been exposed to a lower form of life. This is on an averaged bias, not everyone was deplorable, but the average was a resounding [fill in the blank]. They were rude to everyone and everything. Saw it fit to berate every Japanese player just for being Japanese. Even so, they did not hesitate to beg them for aid immediately after calling them a bunch of jerks. It was insane.

If one of those who have the money to pay for FFXI accounts want to do so let them. They will be totally at home, as 70% of the decent population is gone, or on the way out. Although a grind based game it had great potential, and I made friends with many Japanese players. I only decided to quit when the actions of other US players led the Japanese to exclude me form parties. The average person was so ignorant that they would rather not play the game than risk a party with me.

We Failed FFXI the game did not fail us. (except for the SQE support staff, that was a joke.)

That’s it for now. Feel free to rate me down to 0, as it will only validate my claims.
For everyone else I apologize if this post is out of place.

I think the mass number of FFXI players con verting can be for a number of reasons. Biggest would be that we're approaching 1 year in the game now for al ot of NA players. This has kinda made some of us look back at what we've accomplished in FFXI in the last year and how much mork we had to do to come that far. Some of us are not happy with our progrees. Some don't like how hard they had to work to get that far. Others aren't happy that they're come this far and still they feel like thay can't do all those "uber" things they thought they could back when we were measly lvl 12s.

Then there's the expansion. Frankly SE went into this looking like they were heeding the whines of the mid-levle players. They were going to give us new co ntent, new missions, new gear all for the nice 30-50ish level people. Whoopie! So what happened, first they don't release in the US at the same time, that pissed some people off. Then they ****** up in shipping and it got delayed an extra week for us (hurricane my ***, wrong ocean people). For those of us that did rush out and get it what did we find? We needed 17 other people to do the FIRST MISSION, and on top of that, it was damn near impossible if you didn't take the time to get the nice lil anima for the boss fight. Right there they lost a lot of people.

Lastly is this halloween "event". I'm sorry but they simply recycled last year's event, gave us new versions of the same items, and added one thing, "costumes". Sounds fun right? Wrong, you can't do crap in the costumes, no opening doors or talking to NPCs, and of course no zoning. Sorry but what fun is running around in town as an orc, I'd rather be out in sarutabaruta messing with the lil taru newbies.

So now, why are these people coming over to WoW? Cause we've sat down and read all the kewl info on the game mechanics and it almost feels like Bliz has been reading all our ******* about FFXI. It's like they're doing everything they can to get people who dislike lots of things in FFXI. And the best thing to top it all of, they tell us how things work in their game. Do you, honestly, for certain, without a doubt, straight from the people who made it, know what CHR does? Seriously? SE has never said, "yes, it does this but not this". But now look at Bliz, they flat out said that moving spots inside a zone doesn't change your fishing chances. Mining seams are pre-spawned with ores and rock, your level only changes the chaces of pulling out one of those items, not the probability it exists. Hell they flat out tell you, IN GAME, if something will aggro or not, no testing there.

Needless to say, SE designed their game for the JP players. Many NA players hate many things about the game. Bliz has designed their game with these players in mind. I'm more than happy to give them my $15 a month instead os SE.

FFXI isn't for everyone, it's as simple as that.

WoW won't be for everyone either.

Ah words of wisdom from Seo :)

Yea, I'm just ******* about FFXI/SE, don't mind me, I'll work out this aggression once I get in WoW....

Now where's my @#()*!@%^^&* BETA!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!1!

Well My char was porbably worth something like ... 20$ USD
So I gave some stock over to people I liked in my LS then just
dropped the account.

FFXI was THE most disapointing thing in my life.
I always like to say I was waiting for this game since 1996.
When I first played FF IV (FF II US) when I heard that they were creating my life long dream game, I jumped abord so quickly...
Damn I was disapointed.... 3 first moth were great then... aaah...
Lets all forget about this...

Lets hope WoW will help me forget about how beautiful FFXI was.

Right now my character is probably worth from 5-6 million gil. I was thinking about selling my account for RL money, but will probably end up giving it to those I know who are staying that will need it.

Can't wait to actually be able to solo...

Tek, I think I'm gonna be a convert ><

I've loved the FF series, and Loves XI, but it is a little to hard to do thing solo, and the thought of being an undead rules lol.

I've never played any Warcraft though, so I need to do some reading up on the series. The last blizzard game I played was Starcraft LOL.

So far the graphics look ******* and the fact I can do all the same stuff that I like about FFXI, but apparently do a lot of if solo?!?!?!? thats rad!! There are just times you dont feel like doing anything with anyone else.

I didn't try to sell my stuff because my bro actually took my character and use him to do BCNMs (we were sharing the same account). When I will get WoW he will try it and if he loves that better than FFXI, he will switch.

I left FFXI when I found out that I thought I was guilty not playing it...(I was really addicted, and no, I did not need a psychiatrist help, hopefully). It was so hard to be good in this game... (not tactic, having the right gears)

The whole story, thru WC3FT is all up on the bliz site. I must say, hell of a history here. Took me a good 3 sittings to read it all. Didn't take me that long to read all of FFXI (well all thru what of CoP has been posted).

Warf did you already join my yahoo group for my old linkshell? If not let me know.
