What's your profile Grachna? Mine appears to have them in order of display.

Hey hey I have an issue, I have been trying to figure out why the profiles aren't updating, for instance my Arreyona character is listed at lvl 14 but she is lvl 19 now.

It is correctly listing my Nightstar character and scorn character but is not listing my Diamond character at all.

I ran WoW reader use the run wow button on it, logged in and out on each and it still didnt fix it.

Any ideas?

ok thanks. I suspect it's another library we're linking against, and getting an improper version (because of other installed software), will see if we can track it down, or if we'll have to distribute the runtime library.

I seem to have found a solution (maybe not permanent, but well enough), that if you delete the character profile and use WoWReader to remake the character, it fixes the skills not displaying properly.

Thanks again though Illia for providing this, I'm really loving it. :)

I've added a javascript interface to the profiles.

to use, use

<script language="Javascript 1.2"
        src="HTTP://wow.allakhazam.com/dev/wow/profile-js.pl?id=ID"
        type="text/javascript" />

The heavy use of absolute positioning will probably break any page it's put in, so your mileage may vary.

What you said about this made me think about the problem I am having Illia. On my laptop, WoWReader won't update profile. On my main gaming machine, it will. The only difference between the two is that my laptop is running WinXP SP1 and my gaming machine is running WinXP SP2. I thought perhaps that difference could be causing an issue. Maybe .NET 1.1 has a slight difference when in place alongside the two different service packs. I was wondering if the people having problems are perhaps running WinXP SP1? I can't upgrade my laptop right now to SP2 since it's actually for work and we've been told to holdoff for an official company SP2 patch.

Dunno if it makes any diff..but the first time I got Wowreader to work and actually upload my chars(was uploading data fine..prior to my getting premium account)...I had to launch WoW..from the Wowreader icon and login to my char and then log back out...then I uploaded and my char was then in my char's page on the site.

To the people who received the message:
"Application has generated an exception that could not be handled."

Can you tell me where you installed WowReader to? Specificly, was it installed to a network drive, or a drive in the same system it was run from? Thanks.

Checking profiles today out of sheer boredom and it appears that no one's skill tab is working. Every profile I check and click on the skills tab, the whole screen goes away and just leaves the background (if one was set).

It'd be great if in the meantime, until you can find out what runtime is effecting this if there would be a way to package all the necessary runtimes into the executable? Just a thought for those of us that can't use this part of the site right now.

Thanks,

I just checked mine and it's fine, perhaps this is a (web)client issue?

Edit: I posted in this thread and didn't thank Illia profusely for such a wonderful tool?! I mean, how could I?

Thank you so much for all your to make this happen! I totally love my profile page. =)

Well I just wanted to say that for postnuke users (more then likely phpnuke users too), that there is a way for you to display with in your site an external Webpage. Nukewrapper module lets one use a external files and links to be placed within and cthe sites can still use their own style sheets. Take a look at my site for example www.sircasm.com/wow top right block click on the name Darzoul ( my orc hunter ). I am trying to verify if there is way to set the width down but it did not seem to work. I will put the module in my downloads section asap, but it can be found at postnuke.com
I have not tried the roster yet. as I am trying to also see if one can keep the existing theme of the site and ignore the external site's background style.

I'll add a tag for skipping the background.

The minimum size of the profiles is 402x510

Fixed the skills tab vanishing, I was working on the js library to add talents.. (coming soon)

Cool, the weird thing is when I do resize it to the min IT only does the height and it creates scroll bar on the side. Might have to play around with the code of nukewrapper and see if it can jus tpop the profile in a block or kill the scroll bar and force it to the size. Also add width as a available option to force.

oops, good point I forgot the item popups for width, I'd assume that's why.

if you want to drop the scrollbar, try overflow: clip; for the css element containing them.

Edit: the next version fo profiles will allow you to add &nobg=1 to drop the background image.

Okay, two things.

1) For the people having issues with WoWReader throwing an exception and not starting, I had this issue and I found that I had to launch WoW by itself and login once to create the stuff in the WTF directory. Afterwards, WoWReader would launch just fine. Why did this happen to me? Well, I installed WoW & WoWReader on a secondary machine and try to immediately use WoWReader. Illia, it would be helpful if WoWReader gave a message rather than crash.

2) When I setup the second machine, I actually installed WoWReader first, and then WoW. This apparently causes issues since my second machine wouldn't update the profile. So, I had to uninstall WoWReader and reinstall it. It now updates the profile correctly. So, it wasn't a Windows issue after all for me. I know Illia posted this info in this thread earlier but I just missed it and finally saw the solution. I wanted to rehash for those who are having this issue as well.

Hope this helps.

Illia I noticed in the css on the profile page (this to be exact):

http://wow.allakhazam.com/profile/profile-style.css

* {color: white;font-family: arial,helv,system;font-size: 11px;}
body { background: white;}

Can a width be modified for the actual page size? What I would suggest is limit the width on this end to 800 for the background. It allows for a background to still be used ( if wanted by the user)and the iteminfo to be displayed but not having to much excess background. It would allow nuke users a more easy/friendly without them having to know how to code anything for the most part. I do realize doing this people would then be limited to the background image size (not talking about file size) but it would allow a uniform look. The wrapper does use the sites root background CSS info but then loads the external site and layers it on top, so it overrides the sites in a way. Or do you have any other suggestions on this?

Illia NM I found a different wrapper that works better and has a width adjustment. Postwrap works great for displaying I have found that height 550 and width of 700 allows for a Background image to be displayed 600 height and 800 wide and it still leaves a little white with the links for the XML dump and the wow.Allakhazam.com. So I guess forcing a width on your end may not be needed in your CSS. hehe Anyways I have an example of both at my site both module seem to not interfere with each other. I will add them both to downloads section. Now on to roster displays. Going to see if there is a way to only display guilds on a certain server using your guild roster list.
