Is it like that?Follow

Ok. im really excited about WoW, and im going to get it, but just to clear a doubt,

Every pvp video i watch, the fighting looks extremely messy, like people just go around casting random spells, and hacking and slashing anyone they see..plus the fast pace make it even more messy, is it really like that?

it just dosent seem so organised and appealing..

The answer to this is usually very simple, combat is as messy as the people who engage in it. Organized combat is only for the first few moments of a battle, after that discipline kicks in. Without some kind of system or training combat is very sporadic. Heck even with years of training you still get caught by surprise or the plan fails.

I don’t know for sure but combat usually only looks organized if you’re winning, and meeting a small amount of resistance. Melee combat looks wilder in any situation. Chances are that it looks like chaos because it is.

A major raid will take tactical skill, or overwhelming numbers and luck. Tactics decide who leaves the battlefield, numbers only determine how many fall upon it.

As evidence of all the "PwNeDed Jo0s." coming from the alliance from zerg PvP, I wouldn't necesarally say its not a deciding factor over tactics.

Bringing superior numbers to a battle field is part of the tactic itself. This is an MMO, i bet alot of the "random" spell casting you saw was sleeps an stuns ect being cast on priests and other mages as the raid leader calls out targets over team speak. Unless it was just an unorganized brawl, in which cause yeah it could have been.

The bottom line really is that these characters are each individually controlled by other human beings. There isnt 1 person controlling 12 people at the same time directing them all at a specific spot, so having the level of organization you're used to in a WarCraft game is pretty much impossible.

Look at it like a football game, except you never practice with your teammates (remote exceptions for guildies), the clock never stops and your teammates are mute. And the plays are called in real time. In sign language. Behind you.

From what I'm reading it looks as if you prefer PvP consensual. Fast pace is fun because it gives more a feel that you're in war, do you want to have battles where every single person is basically having a duel with each other? The reason why you think the server is sloppy is that the main tactic in any MMORPG PvP is zerging.

yeah i like pvp in the form of war, like raiding a town etc..but it would be nice if its more organised, like archers behind in a formation shooting, and the warriors clashing in the frontline..lol

erm..i dont like pvp in the form of duels, something like ffxi ballista..i find it really stupid and boring. Plus its slow pace makes it so unrealistic.

IDK, I'm still holding all my PvP giddyness for when battlegrounds come out.

Can you say squeel like a lil school girl?
