Answers to the guy who asked questions about beta: Basically you just sign up, and they send you a cd key. You needed of tested any games before, and or have any of blizzards stuff. This is open beta, which means anyone can join. When your in you dont have to do anything special, except play the game and have fun. Theoretically you should be looking for bugs, but most people dont do that. GL

tight, so lets say open beta was going on right now and I could sign up, where would I go to do so? Or is that not known yet?

From the WoW website:

We are happy to announce that we will soon be accepting applicants for the World of Warcraft® Open Beta Test for North America. The open phase of beta will give people a chance to enter Azeroth and play World of Warcraft before the game is released. More details will become available in the days ahead, so stay tuned.

The way this is phrased leads me to believe you can apply for the beta when it comes out. Thus if you missed the application opportunity way back you can still get in.

They wouldnt Call it an open beta if it wasnt Open. The reason they said "applicants" is simple because you need to go to their page and sign up for it. That is the technical word to use for some1 signing up at something(duh). From there people may be filtered out becuz of not being in US or signing up for more than 1 etc..

You have to "apply" by giving your e-mail so they know who to send the code to, and the information on where to download the game.

If you didn't "apply" they wouldn't be able to send you the required stuff.

It's also a way for them to keep track of numbers of people downloading the beta.

Where do I "apply?" Is it like the other dude said, that there isn't a place yet, but there will be when open beta comes?

Also, I read somewhere that you aren't allowed to have a hotmail or yahoo email. I have both, lol. Looks like I need to use my outlook express? Maybe? I'm not sure where to get the kind of email they require.

Again, thank you for your help, I'm glad not getting flamed for being new :P

Not all of us are trolls on here :) (unlike the blizz forums)

There are no sign-up pages yet but I am sure as soon as there is on EVERYONE in this forum will know.

Go to www.worldofwarcraft.com and look on the side.

See that thing that says "open beta" watch that daily and when it reads something like "apply now" that's when you click on it and apply.

Usually when a game goes to open beta the process of applying is the download button :P

The problems that occurred with hotmail and yahoo had to do with certain types of spam filters. Apparently the e-mail informing you of your admission qualified as spam. So after you apply, deactivate the spam filters.

It won't be a simple matter of just downloading and starting to play; Blizzard stated in their forums (I think it was Tyren) that there will be an actual application before you're confirmed. They need to be able to track who's playing, where they're playing from, and how to talk to the clientele. That's the official line.

Of course, as bumzilla said, when Open Beta becomes available the news will be on this forum. In many places. In capital letters. With too many exclamation points.
