Yes, theres a new version available now to match the patch, so the error should go away after updating.

I just got your program installed and uploaded 4 new items to the list. Wooo Hooo!! I'm very happy to help, this site has been extremely useful for all the MMORPGs that I've played. Thanks :) I'm glad to help.

Just curious, how does the data for what our characters have seen get into the wdb files? Is there a lua component to Wowreader that can write to them, or does the normal wow client track this information? What if I play my character from multiple machines?

I guess I'm basically asking, can I upload data for things I've seen before I installed wowreader on a specific, or not?

There are 2 parts - first the wdb reader that grabs quest, item stats, and some creature stats, which will be collected from even before you first run wowreader. Then the second part is an lua ui addon that collects character profiles, mob locations and drop info, saving them to SavedVariables.lua, which wowreader also parses - so that part requires you to have run wowreader to get the addon installed.

Once again the WoWreader is hanging at the .exe update part. It worked for about a week then started doing this again. I have downloaded and installed a few times now and the same thing happens. I am guessing it is something on my side causing this. I am not behind a firewall so not sure what it could be

khaotica: I updated the installer again to match the current version, so re-downloading and installing that way should get it work for you for now. As for whats causing the problem, I'm still not sure. Do you have to use a proxy server for web browsing or anything? I made a change to the logging when you reported the problem before, so could you check patch.log again and see if its logging anything at all now?

Hey, program works nice with the exception of these Lua script errors I get in game. I can't recal right now the actual syntax of it (I'm away from my home comp), but when I loot some items, this box pops up about a nil value for some items. 1 I really remember was light leather from skinning mobs, but I dunno. I'll post a more detailed explanation later.

If you can get me the exact error it gives, it would be a big help in tracking it down.

[string "Interface\Addons\WR\WR.lua"]:290: attempt to index field `?' (a nil value)

Happens the first few times skinning a new mob type, for each type of leather that mob yields. Sometimes the number in the error message is different, but the rest of the text is the same.

Thanks Grachna. Working on a fix for the problem now.

EDIT: rale posted a patch to wr.lua which should address this. Please let me know if you have the error popup. (after you've restarted wowreader and wow - in that order)

Hello, personally, I'd like to see the "Trade Skills" link updated.. "Poisons" is no longer a trade skill... they also have 2 types for trade skills... Primary and Secondary, according to the official site.

here's a good place to start.

though I bet plans are already made to make the change...

anyways take care! and I'll download Wowreader as soon as I get the game (the 23rd..)..

goodnight!

arksa: I think you might need to try (re?)installing the .NET 1.1 framework.

That's right. Druids can train in axe. Any other problems you see in weapon skills?

Since I said so. Druids = axes
#73 Nov 23 2004 at 1:22 AM Rating: Decent
Umm, no.

Druids can train in staves (start with this skill), daggers (after seeing an NPC weapon trainer), unarmed (after seeing an weapon trainer), polearms (after seeing an NPC weapon trainer) and one-handed and two-handed maces (after seeing an NPC weapon trainer). That's it. No axes. No weapon trainer will train a druid in the use of axes. Sorry.

By the way, as of midnight Central/10 PM Pacific, the forums of worldofwarcraft.com are up again; and it looks as if some people are already creating characters meaning the servers are up too.

If you are playing beta or the stress test, please help us out in collecting data. Rale has developed a program similar to the Lucy item collector for Everquest that collects WoW info. You just need to install it on your computer and run it after you log out of each wow session.
Can we still do this, now that the game has been officially released?
