Hmmm that kind of sucks, so if a friend chooses to be an orc we have to be enemies and I'll never be able to explore the orc city :/ Well so far looks like WoW doesn't have any of the stupid things in FFXI but it doesn't have any of the few good ones either :|
Actually, Undead (I know you said Orc - but, I am not sure you were not referring to the Horde in general) can speak Common (what all the Alliance speak), however, you can not group with the opposite faction, in theory, a group of alliance and undead could talk to each, but not actually party with each other.
*EDIT*
Upon further reading due to the new patch (released sept 29), you can see the thread on the boards,
Quote:
Undead players no longer speak Common. They now speak Gutterspeak (Native) and Orcish (Horde Common).
So, I guess.. us Undead can no longer speak to the Alliance. Aw well, big whoop :P, I will just learn common, so when they say something I can translate it, lmao, I was actually going to try to learn Taurenhe with one of my friends on the stress test, he says something in Taurenhe, then in Orcish, and we compare :P!
**EDIT**
I remember I was around Pyrewood Village - and I saw someone.. tall.. looked human-ish. And, low and behold there was a human, I went up to him, talked in common and said "Hey..." and he replied "Wow, an Undead is talking to me?" and I replied "Haha, yeah, we can speak common to!", then it goes on to me and him becoming friends, we fought some stuff together (even though not in a party) then he died from Son of Arugal and I never saw/ and or talked to him again. Sad ending.
