9) Hit lvl 50 and have to do a quest to find 3 items. All 3 items require you to be a full group of lvl 50 plus. 1 of the items has the rarest drop rate you have ever seen.
10) Spend hours hunting for a coffer key, then spend hours more hunting for the coffer so you can get your job's artifact armor.

Ahhh, only in FFXI will you get such excitement, such drama and such a headache because you are considered gimped or considered stuck if you do not either. Funny because there's better items then AF tier 1 yet it costs millions of gil to put together.
I do love when we get more FFXI players converting. It always leads to a new FFXI troll that feels threaten when there's a MMO that will break from the hardcore FFXI/EQ standard. No worries, you can still have your FFXI and lv your ranger all you want but don't expect us to be around. We'll have our fun with our shiny raids, Battlegrounds, instance dungeons, unique monsters, arena, variety of items, unique character builds, 8 races each with racial traits, pets, our own mounts, thousands of quests, quest exp and more while you guys have HNM camps. Have fun!!!!
It was actually Genkai (limit break) 1 that pushed me over the edge.
Took me 12+ hours of playing (not counting time trying to find a group to go hunt) to get my papyrus drop.
That's just wrong.

Papyrus = Hell
I have died in the Necropolis so many times it was insane. I dragged in a Lv 66 Dark Knight to help me and we spent a hour before we died from aggroing tomb wolves and liches that seemed to be chainspelling freeze. Stoneskin only lasted for so long before I got killed off. After that I had a very pissed off lv 66 drk cussing at me because he lost massive exp. Yeah, this is why FFXI rocks...please...
In any game, you shouldn't have to party to do even the most basic stuff.
You should party because you want to, not because you have to.
And in FFXI, you have to party. Sure, there was other stuff to do, but at some point you would have to stop doing that other stuff so you could party so you could level some more so you could do some more other stuff.
I had done all the quests (in all areas) that I could at my level. To do more, I had to level my character higher.
You should party for fun, to take on the huge/tough monster, to complete that difficult quest, to raid a town, to go and completely clean out a dungeon.
You should party because you want to, not because you have to.

Agreed plus I want to have the feeling that I'm doing something to change the game world even if I'm not.

Hmmm, I think I succeeded in eliminating the insect population in FFXI. I guess thats something. *shrugs*

I had to post this. Have any of you played SWG. That game is the soloing game of the universe. FFXI pssshh. People can solo almost everything, except Super Battle Droids and a few others. People get into groups just to get higher level missions. Thats all that a group is good for. Well maybe for pvping but thats only if your a jedi b/c the gcw,galactic civil war, is dead in that game
