Ohhh ho ho ho i remember when i was a newb (noob?). I had a NE warrior level 18(No def stance BTW) and I tried to get to IF from SW. I asked all the alliance if there was another way then walking and i learned about the deeprun tram. BUT, i didn't know enough. So when i went through the instance portal(which took more coaching) the tram was there. Confused, I got on and then when it went really fast i freaked out and jumped off.

I still wanted to get to IF so i walked. I figure i got about 80% of the way when i had to log. I didn't want to hearth back to darnassus so i just logged there. when i came back on i turned around and walked ALL THE WAY BACK! /sigh i ended up getting on the tram that time and made it to IF (incase you were worried).

AND THAT is why i rerolled horde!
or my newb story...?

Good idea for a thread! May be a great help to newbies. here goes..

What i didn't know was that you can use [ALT] + [Arrows] to move the cursor in the chat window.
[ALT] + [left arrow] or [right arrow] to move left or right and [ALT] + [up arrow] or [down arrow] to see the last few lines that you posted in the chat.

i also didn't know that you can simply press the [TAB] key when you're chatting with more then one person with the /w <Name> command to switch from one person to the other (without loosing the text you typed in the prompt).

well apart from these technical problems it took me about 3h to find out about thottbot and learn how to use it and from there on out i only had very small problems with some quests - manly i had item problems.. like that strange warsong thingy where you have to bring three letters to some outposts in ashenvale (a lvl 20 horde quest from the barrens) and you get all three letters as a bundle that you have to open like a chest and loot the letters to give to the NPCs. well of course being a newbie i didn't know about first actually opening the bundle of letters and ended up running back and forth in ashenvale for about 2h ^^ that was fun :D

What a hysterical thread!

I’m glad to see some people with a sense of humour who can laugh at themselves sometimes.

I’d like to add that as a Shaman, I had unavailable spells ticked whenever I visited a Shaman trainer. (so they were visible)

I only saw the Elemental spells, the ones in green that I could buy, and the rest were red and unavailable till a higher level.

I never realized I was missing out on all the Enhancement and Restorative spells until about level 30 when I finally scrolled all the way down the list!

Ooops!

My first character was a warrior I only got him to level 15 when i deleted him because people kept telling me to tank in RFC. At the time i didnt realy understand the concept that warriors were ment to be tanks so that the clothies wont take aggro while they cast and heal. I then started a Mage on alliance this time and i figured out pretty fast why the mage and preist were telling me to keep aggro. wish they woulda been nicer about it though instead of yelling at me then kicking me from group...

Oh i also thought that 20 was a high level lol silly me

At first I thought all magic users could only wear cloth armor so I ran around with only cloth on my until level 10.

On my first character (paladin) I didn't know I could buy skills and I got him to 19 without a green weapon and I also killed 87 of the Kobolds in the mine for the candles because I thought you had to complete the quests to get more anywhere else.

I played a rogue to level 55 without knowing AH exhisted...I thought it was just a myth.

I thought that Hellfire healed you and damaged your opponent when you casted it so I would cast it at near death.

I was wondering why I would drown (before my warlock) and why horde wouldn't so I started a horde because the orc warlocks didn't drown. I drowned several times.

I bought someone's BoP weapon on my rogue at level 24...I was disappointed that my money was gone.

I think those are the only ones...lol

My rogue was my first toon so I didn't know a lot of things for a long time...

Had no idea how to do any chat besides the normal "say" and guild chat...I couldn't even respond to people when they whispered me.

Didn't know about talent points until about level 22.

Could never figure out why I wasn't getting new abilities every time I leveled.

Never knew what AH, WC, or RFC stood for or even was until after level 20.

Wailing Caverns was my first instance...after level 20.

You know how you target a mob and their picture shows up on your screen? Yea...didn't know that the pretty dragon around the picture meant elite. /owned

Never knew that you actually had to apply the nightcrawlers to the pole. LoL. My fishing hotkey was in my action bar along with a picture of my nightcrawlers. I hit the picture and then clicked my fishing key and couldn't figure out why my fishing didn't go up like it was suppose to. Had the same nightcrawler in my bag for like, 20 levels.

Didn't realize that after a profession trainer taught you everything they could you hve to go outside of Orgrimmar to get to other trainers.

And an up to date newb/noob trait: almost level 50 and never done a single BG.

My moment of newbness, that I can remember, is when I first started I thought that people talkign in the general channel were just saying stuff, so I thought that when I said something they all heard me.

I forgot to put my new abilities on my hotkeys until level 16 or so ... I thought they were automatically assigned

I bought leatherworking and skinning, and the skinning knife. Then, I had around 10-15 light leather in my inventory and decided I wanted to make some uber armor...

I must have right clicked the leather for 5 minutes wondering if I was lagging out. Then some nice person informed me in General that it was in my spellbook.

Do NOT jump onto the Undercity elevators just before they go down. They travel just as fast as you fall.

First character was an Orc Warrior. I had no idea what I was doing so I picked up a quest. Went storming out of the starting area found some body of water. Was promptly killed by what I never saw. Took me about 8 suicide swims before I could get out of the water. Finally got out of the water and was killed by a lion I think. His corpse is still out there somewhere lol.

Was about level 15 before I could do anything more than /say.

Worst one though is misunderstanding the correct loot procedures for group. Level 36 running SM. I pass on most drops generally in instances but a sword drops so I press need. Well I had done this kind of thing before and no one ever said anything but this time one of the party members got really pissed and left the group. Well I asked a guildie later what I did wrong. And he kindly pointed me to the greed option.

i thought that meant they were higher lvl then me and i would die fast :(

i also remember seeing the howl animation that a wolf would do in battle in duskwood and i freaked out thought more were going to attack me :(
