I was thinking of playing an Illusionist. But I heard from a few of my friends that is is weak and a waste of time. Personally, I think they may be good. I was thinking to solo one but was wondering if only having cloth armor will be a problem, thank you for any advice.

hi

Well, my illy is level 90 and he is allot of fun but an illy does take some time to develop; but by level 20-30 you are a butt kicker.

Crowd control is not used alot in eq2 but it can be useful depending on the group and if they listen hehe. ( i think this is changing in DOV since the mobs are allot tougher)

I can solo pretty much anything any other class can thanks to my root, mezs, and stuns.

3 things to keep in mind:
always have the best root spell you can (expert at least)
always have the best pet you can (expert at least)
make a macro:
/pet attack
/pet ranged
that will keep the pet from trying to be a tank (which he isn't)

hope that helps some.
