A voyage of discoveryFollow

#1 Jul 01 2010 at 11:19 AM Rating: Good
I've been working on leveling up a couple alts lately and I thought that with the bonus XP weekend coming up it might be a good point to go back and cull all the discovery AA out of the zones I didn't use for leveling. Does anyone have a list of all the disco locations in the various zones? I'm thinking coords would be nice but it would be even better if the locations were also in some kind of order so I can run through each zone without a lot of back and forth...

Thanks in advance...

There is kind of one in-game if you look under the Achievements for "Exploration". At least then you can see which ones are still white so you can grab them easily. As far as a list of disco's by waypoint, I don't know of one but if you have eq2maps installed you could always filter the poi's.

Yup, Dyadem's suggestions are pretty spot-on. You can also try searching for points of interest in our object database, though admittedly not all over those will give disco exp.

I hadn't thought of EQ2 maps but that's a great idea. Thanks Dya!

I've done a lot of quests mentored down by the cronomagis, either in zones I never levelled much in or the new zones. There's plenty of aa to be had that way, and quests are dead easy to do levelled down. If you turn all xp into AA or part of it, even the quests under level 10 will get you some. Granted, not all that much, I did all the Halas ones I could find and got one AA out of it.

AA hunting by exploration is a heck of a lot of running around lol, I did it for the achievements, took forever.

I think the Chronomagis came in while I was on a break from the game. How do they work?

The Basics: http://eq2.zam.com/wiki/Chronomagic

You must be level 10 or higher to use them. You can only mentor down to a level that ends in X5 or X0 (20, 25, 30, etc).

No matter what level you are, and are choosing, it costs 5g 100 status.

Characters 70+ can get a daily quest which gives faction to buy gear (ugly gear imo), but you can buy 'plushies' of the names you are sent to kill.

Mentoring persists through zoning/camping. There is no time limit on how long you can remain mentored.

To quit simply type /unmentor and you return to your current level.

It's very beneficial for transmuters, AA hunting in older zones, grouping with lower alts or friends, etc etc.

It is very handy, Dyadem gave you all the basics. I mentored down to lvl 35 today and got three AA's in Kaladim (revamped with the expansion I believe, it's now a lvl 30ish instance) killing all the named there.

XP and AXP is seriously cut back though if you mentor down with the chronomagi (you can find them in Qeynos Harbour, not sure where in Freeport), but it's fun to be able to hunt down named you missed out on and can do quests that were either not around when you levelled or didn't bother to do.

I did the same thing - chrono'ing down to 10 (from 40) and doing the Halas newbie zone. I think I got two AA but twenty points in Transmuting. Also made a new friend, pairing up to hit the named mobs. Yay!
