...on Blackburrow server. Hi all! I downloaded ProfitUI and EQ2Maps - any other spiffy add-ons recommended? My characters are:

Haemish - 46 Halfling Monk
Snorre - 42 Dwarf Troubador
Snorri - 23 Dwarf Fury
Squishem - 8 Ogre Berserker
Smoggo - 8 Ratonga Necro
Belfry - 3 Gnome Paladin

Wonky - 32 Halfling Troubador - on Antonia Bayle (RP) server

Are Troubs and Monks welcomed in groups/raids? Just wondering if things have changed since I've been gone from the game for over 2 years.

What are the most sought after classes? Healers? Thanks in advance!

Can't think of any other add-ons that are considered necessary...

I personally like ThorUI Redux as the UI, but that is just preference.

As far as groups, there are a lot of people that have a "necessary" group make-up.

I don't bother grouping with them, however, so I'm not sure what that consists of. (I'm a paladin, and even though they are one of the very few real tanks left, people are still biased against them, so.....) As far as I'm concerned, as long as I'm not the primary healer, I don't care what the group consists of, as long as we don't die too much. Smiley: lol

If you care about parse data you may want to consider ACT...though if you dont care about it then its not worth it (though it's a small download, and can be configured to show heal parse as well as dps). Otherwise maps and ui are the only things you need. I've never used Thor, I first found Profit and loved it for the group/raid quick buttons, and the auto links in the quest journal window.

On Everfrost, I always see Troub's being sought for raids. Monks aren't bad it's just that most melee dps is covered (as well as ranged). You can never go wrong with a healer either.

Welcome back to EQ and keep Nadenu in check for us.

Hi snorre, welcome back to Norrath!

There's been a whole load of changes to the game the last two years, just about all were good for the game too, imo anyway.

Monks have things to add to a raid, but I haven't noticed that they are considered standard additions to a raid, definitely not must-haves unfortunately.

Will do! Smiley: grin I'm lucky Nadenu is patient in-game to answer my newb-like questions as I learn the game all over again. For instance, I have no clue as to what to do with my reset APs and stuff! Smiley: confused

You could just sit down in a nice mob-free area and spend them all again!

Right - just couldn't remember if I had a specific reason for what I had selected before - sort of like the WoW skill trees. I just want to make sure I pick the correct abilities - I'm sure I'll figure it out after I read up on all the choices.

It's not a bad idea to start a new character (most ideally in Timorous Deep starting zone, great place to start) and start anew, especially if you don't have higher level characters. Some of the changes added an increase of spell drops at a lower level, Timorous deep gives great armour rewards, and it's also a fun place to quest. (imo anyway) Experience comes quicklier now than it used to, it's easy to gain ten levels the first day of a new character, I don't even bother much with crafted armour updates before I'm past level 20, just some weapons.

A lot of the AA trees have been altered during the last two years, abilities changed, some for the better but some not really. It's indeed a good choice to really check them all out and see the best course of action.

And you get a neat little pet... thing... from a quest.

Yes the cute baby gorilla <3 .. so cute always fun to do, unless you mean the 'Chokoball' ...which is neat but not nearly as fun to climb to ;)

Oh, I don't think Sam has the gorilla yet...

Gotta go back now, Sam!

Looks like I have a free reset on my abilities/talents but nothing has changed so looks like I'm good to go for now.

I'll have to look up that quest for the gorilla - sounds great! My lil two-room apartment is full of all the pets from /claim and quests for my top two characters (Haemish and Snorre). It's crazy, so adding a gorilla into the mix should be fun, too.

Finally soloed Lord Everling last night to get the Guise of the Deceiver and (after a couple of easy quests) Hadden's Earring. My Guise of the Deceiver mask turned Haemish (Halfling Monk) into a Dark Elf with a 1970's **** mustache. Looks awesome! Smiley: waycool

I prefer the follow you around kind. I'll have to check out this gorilla thing.
