model viewer?Follow

#1 Nov 23 2005 at 1:43 PM Rating: Decent
Hi guys, I'm leaving FFXI for EQ2 and was wondering if there is a model viewer out there somewhere for EQ2. I'd like to get a look at the armor/weapons and such.

Thanks.

I think you can use the full character creation tool if you download the "Trial of the Isle" demo. It won't show you any armor but you'll see all the races and their appearance options, regular and SOGA models.

Things are improving slowly, but armor variety isn't a strong point for this game. I suspect we'll all be level 100 before we really look pimped-out.

Speakingof SOGA...is it just me are do they run really weird? I was looking forward to having some new character options but I don't care for any of them.

I switched to the SOGA models...my head was the size of a bean and the junk in my Erudite trunk made me look like Jennifer Lopez.

And when I saw myself running like a guy (Kindle is not a guy), I switched back to the old-style.

My partner can't stand any of the SOGA models, for various reasons. One of the most pronounced reasons, though, is that in many cases, there are fewer overall options (the Barbarians' Age slider doesn't exist on the SOGA side, for example), and the options that are there tend to be less varied. She uses the eight-spoked spike hairstyle on her Dark Elf Shadowknight (female), but there aren't any SOGA hairstyles that are anywhere near as interesting.

As for myself, I think that many of the SOGA models look... odd. My Half-Elf Ranger stands with his arms akimbo, like he's practicing to be a gunslinger, and while the SOGA version doesn't look as fruity as the original model does, he DOES look more like some sort of bishounen.

Nope there are not enough models for armor. And sadly it is even more true at the high end levels of the game where you have the ppl that raid daily and have all the uber stuff, and all the others in cobalt waiting for their raiding upgrades.

As far as SOGA models go, they really all look the same...sadly. Even though I prefer the beard and hair i picked for my templar in SOGA form, the lack of options to change be it only the shape of the face (the options are there but even with playing with them...the difference is very minimal) make every toon on SOGA models look practically alike. Fewer hairstyles, fewer 'special' options such as piercings for half eleves etc and on top of all, no matter the color of skin you pick, ALL HIGH ELVES LOOK LIKE CANCER PATIENTS IN THEIR TERMINAL PHASE !!

I love the look of the DE model, other than the airing out of the arm pits, and the fact that my calves are ENORMOUS. Other than that, it looks amazing. And my High Elf illusion spell looks awesome, because he has a dark skin color and black hair, most people still mistake me for a DE.

Seems like this is going to the SOGA more than the models. I am discusted at my half-elf appearances. He always looks TOUGH and EVIL and, well, like a darkelf. The skin is so dark and pale at the same time, and the eye slants are never correct. I like the Iskar SOGA though. That model ROX. Other than the fact that he can't get a full dark mustard color like I wanted.

Personally, I don't like the SOGA models. The Euro models have a much more appealing look to me. At first I found the SOGA models interesting but there are a lot of aspects to them I just don't care for.

The legs are all wrong. The heads seem oversized for the bodies. None of them run well and the other annimations are not that good either. Most of the hair styles lack 'flair' with the hair appearing straight and limp, without any degree of wave or body.

In short, none of the new toons seem to be comfortable in their own skin...

All of this is admittedly subjective, but my point of view is the only one I have!

(edit - spelling is the bane of my existence)

Goto SS and all fighter types look like they are in the same biker club, same for all the other class's. We all have the same type and color gear. Not to mention my SK looks like the blueberry warrior in cobalt siting on my little pony looking horse.

We need to be able to color our gear and for gods sake let us change the looks of our horse's I just don't think a SK or a paly looks good sitting on a fair pony :P
