New Woodworker Advice PleaseFollow

So after dragging my beaten body home from months of conquering the lands, I figure it's time to relax and dip my hand into Tradeskilling.

My small guild needed a Woodworker, so I got an alt up to Level 21 Woodworker primarily by crafting new recipies to pristine and getting the exp bonus.

Well, now that I'm officially a Woodworker, I'm looking for advice. A scan of the forums at EQ2Craft shows that quills and paper seem to be the meat and potatos of daily sales. On-demand wand crafting also seems to be big.

I'm familiar with the crafting process, pulses, buffs, etc. I'm still a little unorganized as far as my inventory. I'm making onesies-twosies of items and have lots of leftovers. I seem to be moving away from one tier of wood and into another. But not sure if it's safe to get rid of all the lower tier stuff yet.

I'm not into it for a huge profit, but I'd prefer to craft wisely and at least break even or make a little coin. This leads me in with a few questions:

1. Any general advice for Woodworking?
2. I have recipies for drums and flutes. Are these equipable items with stat bonuses like bandoliers? (I haven't made any, I guess I should and find out)
3. Is there a list somewhere of what other tradeskill professions need my products? I guess it would be smart to make what sells. I figure Sages would need my paper and quills.
4. Those special artisan books, woodworking, geomancy, weaving, etc. When do I get to buy a level 2 book?

Well I'm no woodworker Smiley: smile

But I refer to EQTraders for extra help, they have a nice EQ2 section.

Any general advice for Woodworking?

Well, I am a woodworker and here's what has worked for me;

I spend a session at the beginning of each week making WORTs. I keep 2 24 slot boxes in my shared bank that are filled with 6 stacks of each, giving me a box of WORTs for each of 2 tiers. This covers both my woodworker and my tailor for the tier they are currently in and the tier they are entering. (Just last weekend I dumped all my T2 stuff and shifted to T4 stuff.)

I find that 6 stacks will usually get me through a full week but sometimes I have to rush to the chem lab mid-week for some more wash, resin or oil.

After the WORTs are done, I usually spend a session or two making all the sub components and sub combines I am likely to need for a week. The woodworker gets lumber and staves plus all the metal and leather bits that bows and sticks use. The tailor gets leather stretches, plates, cords etc. plus cloth. BTW - I make all of these parts in full stacks so I always have plenty on hand.

Then, for the rest of the week, I can make any finals I need without having to spend a bunch of time figuring out how many of which do-dad I will need to have.

My tailor and woodworker are fairly interdependant... the woodworker makes stacks of paper for the tailor's patterns and the tailor makes all kinds of leather items and fletching for the woodworker to add to his bows and staves... Worked out pretty well...

One more point - you should consider doing crafting writs for the Ironforge family - (located in the T/S instance behind the Ironforge estate. The XP is good if you are grinding level and they pay 160% of cost in addition to the GSP. (regular writs from your crafting guild only net you 120% of cost)

Now for your other specific questions:

Since they have no known use to any class in the game and can't be placed in the home, I would say make one of each for the bonus and call it a day.

EQ2Traders might have such a list, but I've never stumbled across it. Quills and paper are the 2 biggies but personally, I never sell subcombines. I spend all my time making staves and bows, (along with scads of paper for my tailor!)

All of the alt-skill books become scribable at the "0" levels - so 20, 30, 40 etc.
