Lag is primarily casued by the load on the servers and your settings. Everyone has since spread across the zones. Qeynos Harbor and Blackburow are still habitually laggy. Set your video settings down a notch, see how it goes.

gameplay

Major changes up and down. There is a combat revamp requiring some classes to relearn their spells. Overall it is an imporvement and more balanced. Mobs are harder but there is a generous supply of solo mobs. A huge amount of content has been added at all levels. New items, spells, recipies, armor, loot drops, and more.

It usually depends what class you are. Healers always get picked up faster, and with the supply of solo mobs, there isn't a great demand for groups. You may be able to send a /tell to someone killing the same mobs as you to join.

Maybe not noobs but still many low level characters. I still see a new player now and then ask all the noob questions, so it's a good sign.

There have been some major additions to the game, specifically Splitpaw Saga and Desert of Flames.

Splitpaw is scaleable instanced zones that scales to your level ensuring there is always content to match you. The quests and loot in there are very good. Do a /claim on each of your characters to get the shard, examine it, and let the gnoll hunting begin.

Desert of Flames is the first major expansion pack for the game and costs US$30. It's only been out for a month, but reviews are good.

With so many changes since you last played, it's impossible to cover them all. Best for you to just log on and see first-hand, maybe even roll a new character.

Good luck :)
