I have just come back after a while (since last Christmas or so), and now, since I came back, some furniture says "Rent Status Reduction: 40", or some other number. I can't figure out what this means :,( Can anyone help me understand it? Does it lower your rent? O_o Thanks!
When you move out of your Inn room and into a swank and better apartment with more rooms, those items will help you reduce the cost of rent.
And beleive me, those other places are much more expensive than the paltry 5s per week you pay for the Inn room. So any help is a blessing.

Doesn't just reduce the cost in money though does it?
I thought those pieces of furniture reduced the amount of status points paid for rooms which have a duel cost of both money and status.

Ohh believe me, I know how expensive those rooms get :P Back in the day before I quit, I had a huge room in Freeport, and ended up only being able to hold up the rent for about 3 weeks >.> (this was back when 10g was a huge amount of money, and no one had 1pp :P hehe). Thats neat though :) Thanks!

Rooms with status rent cost less in terms of cash. For example a luxury room might cost
1) 50 gold per week or
2) 1000 status and 25 gold per week.
(not real prices) Furniture goes toward that status, so if you have furniture, etc. contributing 200 status you only need to pay 800 status and 25 gold for number 2.
