Sadly, there is not BST in EQ2. I was a 49 BST in EQ1 and had a blast. The closest thing you'll get to a pet class is Mage > Summoner > Conjurer (good) / Necromancer (evil).

Important thing to know is that you'll start as 1 of 4 classes, Fighter, Mage, Scout, or Priest. When you get to level 10, you select a specialty archtype path to follow. Then at level 20 you pick another specialty path to follow and you will be that final class forever more.

So if you start as a Mage, at level 10 you will have a choice of becoming a Sorcerer, Summoner, or Illusionist. If you pick Summoner, then at level 20 you will have your final choice to become a Conjurer or Necromancer.

A WoW Hunter with their fantastic bow skills would be a Ranger in EQ2. The path would be Scout > Predator > Ranger. They do great damage with a bow and are masters at the rear-attack.

there is also a class Mage~~~~>Enchanter~~>Illusionist(Good)/Coercer (Evil) which the illusionist gets a pet to aid them and also the coercer (i have one) is really cool, it lets you pretty much control some mobs and have them aid you in the attack against other mobs..its pretty neat and i never played EQ1 but it sounds like the BEASTMASTER your talkin about so that might help ya out..(Note: if you really want the affect of a beast takin control of other beasts then just make ya a kerran coercer lol) should be pretty cool.
