Grouping QuestionFollow

If I have a group of three people (me and 2 friends) and we are always going to be grouping together, can we get by with none of us being a tank? Or to be effective, does one of us have to be a tank?

That would all depend on the classes involved. 2 DPS and a healer make a good trio. 3 healers make a good trio. 2 casters and a healer make a good trio. There are many ways to skin this particular cat!

You can effectively group with almost any three combinations. However, to be the most effective, the only absolute must-have is a healer.

Even without a tank, the healer can heal whoever is getting hit, so it doesn't matter who gets to be tank. You might consider a Mage pet class like Conjurer or Necromancer that can use the pet as a tank.

The good thing about a tank is their ability to withstand a beating taking large hits. Someone is less-than-plate armor may die within only a few of those same hits.

Bottom line is play what lends you fun, maybe experiment with a few combinations until you find the magical combination.

It depends on what you want to do, a tank will make things easier in certain situations, and on tough mobs, but for a lot of the quests/game you can get by with 2 DD's and a healer.

Tanks come in handy when your going somewhere that might pull extra mobs and stuff like Fallen Gate, also great for heroics..but then there are times that you can avoid a tank like takin a buncha necs to FG cuz its mostly undead and ur pets help for demi-tanks, but if your plannin on doin some level 3 heroic then you might wanna take 1 tank or 3 necs..you can always replace a tank and sometimes can manage without a healer..a tanks just a great thing to have. :D

Hmm... my suggestion would be to /ooc Hey, we are looking for a tank in our group. Anyone want in?

Tanks will make your life easier. You may get lucky and meet a good player to join you guys. If not, can i suggest healer/mage/scout.

For healer, any will do. Druid types seem to do the most damage, Shamans get the best debuffs, and templars get plate armor. Hard to pick. Templar would likely tank the best with the plate armor.

For caster, I suggest a pet caster or an Enchanter. Pet classes can let the pet tank, which would be useful considering you have no tank. Illusionist may be a great idea, too. You get a great pet that mezzes and stifles, and scales to your level. Plus, Illusionists can mez, which makes them the best at handling adds. Problem is their nukes are weak, but they have good dots.
Also, their power regen will help your overworked healer.

For scout, any will work. Bards have great buffs, but assasian/ranger will do killer DPS. Honestly, just go with what is the most fun.
