Alright, so Troubadours buffs the group while the Dirge debuffs the mob? Here's what confuses me, under the Dirge description it says

Dirges and troubadours a very similar.
Dirges get an str agi group buff, troubs a sta agi buff
Dirges buff dps, troubs attack rate.
Dirges buff str and gives increased hate percentage to target for a concentration point, troubs lower the hate of all non fighters they are grouped with.
Dirges buff parry, troubs buff defense.
Dirges have a disease proc, troubs a AR proc.
Dirges give noxious mitigation, troubes arcane.
Dirges life tap, troubs mana tap.
Dirges get a fear, troubs a charm.
Those are what I think off the top of my head, another generallity is dirges buff more for melee characters while troubs buffs help casters more.
I would be better able to tell you the difference once the spell lists are updated. Right now they still use the old ones which are not updated for U13.

O.O you are quite the resource huh? thanks a bunch :D I think I'm going to go with Dirge. Between pulling, meleeing, and buffing constantly I don't want the added responsibility of having charm brake and dealing with that :/ It looks like I will be doing a whole lotta soloing on my server due to a low population, and I think dirge would be a better choice if I'm going to be soloing more than grouping.
If you are going to mainly solo yes take a dirge, we get a couple of life taps that help keep our health up. An though our fear I find can cause problems, when you have an add it is great to get it out of your hair for a few seconds well you kill your first mob.
