Ok sorry for the newb question here, but I cant figure this out. How does the economy work here in EQ2.

Specifically, if I wanted to make some cash by selling spell books I have looted, or weapons or armor I have looted, how do I go about it. I have figured out how to use a Bulletin Board to at least look at the market and buy items, but having to be online and in my house to sell anything is pretty lame. Is there a broker thru whom I can access the market and sell stuff.

A related question...How do I go about finding someone who can make spell upgrades for me. I dont want to go spamming the airwaves looking for spell upgrades, but once I get past Apprentice II, I have not found any place to buy spells, so I guess I need someone to make them. Thanks.

Double click on your door while inside your room, and you'll see the dialog box with a button at the bottom labeled "House Vault" Open that, and you'll find 2 slots of storage. (As with your bank, it will hold containers so it can in effect hold as much as 50 or more items.) Put items you want to sell in there and then open your bulletin board, and click the tab for the vault items. This is where you set your prices. Make sure everything you want listed for sale is marked as such. Now you're selling through the brokers! Vault items remain up for sale while you're offline. (No more staying logged all night and no more "mules"!)

Nota bene: Only one character per account can be selling offline at a time, so if you list one character's vault items and log that character and then log on an alt, your items will no longer be up for sale.

The best ways to find people to make you things are the "Looking for Work" search (same place as "Looking for Group") the crafting and trading channels for your city and last but not least guildmates, friends and word of mouth.

If you're on Nektulos and you need a weapon, look me up :)

You do not have to be in your room to sell. You can do so by placing items in your house vault (accessible through the door menu, and expandable with boxes like any other inventory space) and setting the price on the vault merchanidies tab. You must return to your room once a day(real time) to keep your items listed.

There are several brokers in each city- one in each tradeskill instance and one in each of the inner city zones. There is also a fence, or broker for the other city, hidden in the harbor zone for both cities. Fences have higher commision fees for fetching items than regular brokers (40% vs. 20%)

As for spell upgrades, it depends on what archetype you are. Scouts require a jewler, fighters need an alchemist, and sages make spells for priests and mages. You can try the crafting chanels for your city. To join the, right click on your chat window (I think there is a small button next to the help button on this window that you need to click on specificaly) and join <City>_crafting and <City>_traders.

You don't need to buy app2, 3 or 4's to go to adept incidently, so you can buy the spell book for adept off the broker or another player and scribe it with no penalty.
