um.. hi, i am a retired 65rng/37nin and i am sick of the routine. In FF, the economy is horrible, the EXP'ing is so sordid and repititive, we have so little zones in our game to choose from it's insane, i have to farm for 6 hours just to buy the ingredients for the bow that's gonna take me 12 more hours of farming juat to buy the DD arrows, but enough bashing i did my time and i want a solo capability and more raid opps.

i want to be s straight damage dealer and Debuff at the same time if possible i don't want to tank it's not my thing, if anyonre could give me a preference to a great hitter/debuffer it would be awesome. I'm at the start screen and choosing a race is like diffusing a bomb! lmao seriously just some pointers and start tips would rock thx all :)

well from what you say as your prefrence you would prob be best with a rouge and an assassin might be good for you. they do the most of all the rouge types.... (plz dont flame me) and with a nice poisen from behind they pretty much out damage all classes. only thing they tank like a pinata. and from infront they might as well be a retarded kid with a wiffle ball bat for how much they do..... and they evil side only class.

The best debuffers that I know of are priests (defilers and inquisitors are known for their debuffs), but they aren't such great damage dealers. Besides, if you make a priest, you'll be expected to heal most of the time in groups, not deal damage.

The damage classes are scouts and mages. (Bards and enchanters, however, are not good damage dealers, despite being scouts and mages respectively.) I don't know much about mage debuffs, but I know scouts do have some. Swashbucklers, for example, have a line of spells that debuff defense and another that debuffs agility. If you want to compare debuff spells, look on the lists of class spells on this site. Scouts, as stated, are not great tanks. Besides, many of their best combat arts depend on them not having aggro (such as backstabs). By the way, swashbucklers and brigands are rogues, while assassins and rangers are predators. As for which does the most damage, combat art changes are coming soon that will make predators the most damaging of the scout classes, followed by rogues.

Race is not that big a deal. The only differences are starting stats and racial traits. Starting stats won't matter much after the first few levels, and the same usually goes for the racial traits. So just pick the race you like the best.

me to, i was also thinking about quiting FFXI for the same reasons, farming for hours to fund for 5 mins of an item, how long it takes to gain a level, this game was great, but i think 1 year and a half will make someone crazy of the same thing everyday, i play EQOA sometimes on my PS2 and i got my monk to lvl 20 :D, i loved it, it was great, farming is incredibly easy and partys dont have to always be balanced, i played EQ for PC loved that game as well, so i think i might be quitting FFXI and switching to EQ2, they have many classes to pick from, races, armor types, weapons, huge world, great graphics.

so i will ponder the website a little and make decide.

I am also a vet of ffxi, diabolos server. A few months back i came to eq2 and have not looked back. I am currently on the Guk server and if you need some help you are more than welcome to create your guy there and ask for some assistance. I will most likely be on Undorett or Beaker.

In this game you dont really get the best of both worlds, there is no uber dps and debuffer. As a few people have said earlier, Priests are probably the best debuffers, however others include the Enchanter line of mages and the Bard line of Scouts. Both of those provide very nice buffs to the party as well, however neither are awesome dps. DPS comes from the other scout and mage lines.

If you want to talk more make a guy on the guk server and get in contact with me. On most nights after work.

Later.
