Quick Question!Follow

Hey all,

If you guys wouldn't mind horribly, I've got two pretty simple questions to ask:

1) Which server(s) are the most/least populated? I'll join the roleplaying servers, but will it be desolate? How much difference is it population wise from a regular server?

2) If there are any Laptop EQII players out there: Is it possible to upgrade a laptop video card? How much (approx.) would it cost to get the minimum requirement? (I'm broke.)

Thanks for helping! (That is, if you posted.)

i think the RP servers are the most full servers.

As for a laptop..i play on one. Upgrading your video card is most likely impossible to do

Impossible to upgrade? I have 58 (or so) mb of pixel memory, and I need about 64, I believe. There's no way to simply meet the minimum requirements to play the game if your laptop didn't come standard with all the required features?

Crap.

1) I'd say Antonia Bayle is the most populated, and I'd say every zone has atleast 5-10 people in it most of the time..And the least populated..Well its the one you don't know the name of.. 2) Laptops + Eq2 = No. Just my take on laptops..:D

Laptop graphics chips are embedded on the motherboard and thus not field replaceable. The expansion card slots are just PCMIA and thus use PCI (*not* PCI-Express!!!) signaling, limiting them to about 1/16th the speed of a AGPx8 card.

In a word, unless you can go into BIOS and toggle the amount of "shared" memory to allocate to video, the memory size is fixed and there's no way around it. All of the video chipsets I know of that use shared memory (memory that is pulled from the system RAM to use as video RAM) are not EQ2 compatible anyway.

I play on Splitpaw in EU time zone and Shadowhaven in USA time and both are medium traffic, I'd say only Antonia Bayle is heavy use, and even then the server load says "light" on any server whenever I o to the charachter create screen. Then again, I never play during prime time...

For RP servers, you'll have easiest pick up grouping on Antonia Bayle, especially Qeynos side, as Freeport is less popular there.
