First I'm not able to log onto Befallen for hours and now it says "patcher initializing..." for a loooong time. When I cancel it and try to start the scan again it crashes... is anyone else having this problem? I want to play but if the servers are always going to be like this i dont think ill be sticking around much longer. Then again the game was just released... i guess ill give it some time =/.

I loggen in to Befallen about 5 hours ago, right after they had come up. My game crashed once, then I restarted it and downloaded another patch.

Try (if you haven't already) restarting your machine to clear everything. Other than that, I'd say call SE. They may have you reinstall and repatch everything. It's possible that the game got corrupted somehow.

As for the state of the servers being so unstable, they won't be for long. All MMO's have growing pains in the first few months of release. It will get better.

Yeah, most server instability issues are usually fixed one or two weeks after launch, other bugs are sorted out usually within a month, then they start implementing new features.

At any rate, I would start with what the previous poster said - first restart your machine. Double-check your Internet connection (especially if you have a firewall). If it's still not working trying scanning the files with a scandisk-like utility. After that you may need to re-install, but first check SOE knowledge base. I think there's some info on known issues at EQ2players site (there's a link from the patching screen, don't remember the exact address).

If the file scanning when you first start the game is taking a while, defrag your hard drive - that sped up my scanning time significantly.

Lol, I thought it would be something easy like that, but I wasn't completely sure and I'm at work reading the forums so I couldn't check from the startup window.

I work in a computer lab, so basically when nobody needs help I can do whatever I want on the computer up front, and nobody will know anyway (unless they have monitoring software, and they probably wouldn't care anyway....it's just forums).
