First of all, got my pre-order today (9 CD's??? where are my DVD's?? anyone else get CDs instead of DVDs?) and installed it on my laptop. I barely got the char creation to work back in the day, and it ruined my FFXI, so I unloaded it, since EQ2 was aways away. Now that I have EQ2, I can't get my vid. card set again. Would anyone know what I need to do to get my vid card (listed in subject line, 64mg) to run this again? I know it will look horrible, but it will run at a minimum until I get back from military deployment next year and cand afford my new comp.

I've tried to DL the "newest" drivers I could find, but keep getting an error saying it can't find something, and that I should try a VGA driver set first. . . >,<;

"INF Error. Video Driver not found."

"Try installing a VGA driver first"...

That is the error I get everytime I try to install a new driver pack, I don't believe I got this error when I installed the Char. Creation a couple of months ago...

ya your not gonna get much quality from the 64 and im also not sure i fully understand your question. Your having video card installaion issues?? if so the radeon site has a single driver that will detect your radeon card.. and if thats not your question then sorry for the waste of space lol

No, it's a laptop, I wish I could install a new vid card, then wouldn't be having the problems with this ATI piece of sh-t... Why can't they make it more user friendly?? bah...

I think I know what you mean. Here's the thing: ATi won't distribute actual driver sets for Mobile units (meaning laptops).

ATi Website wrote:

The display driver supplied with a given notebook has been customized for:

-the built-in flat panel display
-any other graphics or video options installed in that specific computer.

As a result of these customizations, ATI Customer Care is unable to offer drivers for notebooks

So, to rectify the VGA issue, go directly to the manufacturer's website for your Laptop, and download any Video Chipset/Display Drivers they have available (preferably the newest release). Since it's your Mfg.'s site, it should include adopted drivers for the ATi card installed in the Laptop, and should rectify the problem. This also might explain why you're getting errors trying to install ATi Driver Sets, because it isn't adopted to work for the specific chipset in the Laptop. Good luck!
