Questions about RangerFollow

#1 Nov 08 2004 at 12:35 PM Rating: Decent
Hello, I am a 75 Ranger/Ninja in FFXI. I have my copy of EQ2 ordered. Here is a couple questions for you ranger experts out there in EQ2 land.

Is ranger a serrious DD in EQ2 like it is in FFXI?
Accuracy is based on Agility in EQ2?
What atribute raises DMG with ranged weapons in EQ2?
In FFXI Ranger was one of the most desired jobs for a party because of their damage output, is this true in EQ2 as well?
In FFXI STR raised ranged attacks, so it was more desirable to start with MAX STR because all of the ranger type gear had lots of agi+ and Racc+, Is this true in EQ2 as well?

Thanks for your help.

AnthonyV,

As hard as it is, I'd recomend going into EQ2 trying not to draw parallels between the 2 games. From what I have read SOE is going to make Rangers more Stealth based. The description on the main website is:

Quote:
Rangers are natural outdoorsmen and trackers, masters of stealthy movement in the undergrowth. They use perception and cunning to gain the advantage over their adversaries.

Read the Ranger abilities here:

http://www.thescoutssanctuary.com/ranger.php

It gives a summary of Ranger nicely:

Quote:
Primary attribute: Agility
Stat Bonus: 5agi, 3str, 2 sta
City: Qeynos
Traditional Races: Barbarian, Dark Elf, Froglok, Gnome, Half Elf, Hafling, High Elf, Human, Iksar, Kerra, Ratonga, Wood Elf
Primary roles: DPS, heroic opportunities
Secondary roles: Evacs, run speed buffs, opening treasure chests, poisons
Key Knowledge:Archery, Weapon knowledge
Weapons: Swords, daggers, axes, spear, bows, rapiers
Armor: Medium
Attack Style: Stealth based

Rangers: Rangers are the good predators residing in Qeynos. Their main specialization is archery based combat but expect to use a good mix of archery and melee damage to be an effective ranger.

My personal opinion is that if you tried to compare classes between FFXI and EQ2, the ranger would be a cross between Thief and Ranger.
