I know this game isnt based on PVP but there will be duels I hope. anyways which class is looking to be the PVPER? Was guessing Warlock or Necro. any beta testers out there able to shed some light on this subject??

Also I am really interested in being a Warlock. Are they a good class to solo with?

There will be no pvp in EQII and there are currently no plans for it.

No PVP?
I have been told there are no pvp servers. But are there arenas? or duels? or is it no pvp period?

What did Crooks just say. No PvP. and No plans for it in the future. Duels falls under the category of PvP.

I don't think this NO pvp thing will last. They say now that there are no plans for it, but wait a few months after EQ2 goes live and players will be whinning for PvP faster than you can say "Duel me, Newb!"

Trust me. It might take a little while, but it WILL happen.

WHAT???.... No pvp???!! damn, and I already bought my copy of EQ2. Comon all onlines games have pvp even FFXI has Ballista. You mean to tell me the best mmorpg will have no conflict? Thats why Diablo will always be king.

I'd have sworn I read about non-lethal arena battles that would be both GM and player organized.

They also currently have no plans on arenas or duels. We discussed this in beta until the horse was beaten dead 1000x over. They just don't have any plans on putting it in the game. As a matter of fact they even suggested that there were "other games" geared towards pvp players that they can play.

It's tough to balance a game for PvE and PvP at the same time...I'd like to see them leave this one PvE...if folks need PvP, find another game. Just my opinion, of course...

There are definite plans to add a PVP server at a later stage in the game, when balance has been established.

I really have my doubts about the article linked to in the above post .. SOE has so far been VERY firm on the statement that there will bo NO pvp in EQ2 and that there were no plans for it either .. ever ..

How old is that? From that article, it looks like beta hadn't even started yet, and they were pinning it to start in May. So it's older than even May.

I'd personally listen to the beta testers. They've had more direct contact with the devs than anyone.

Although they have stated that they aren't planning on putting it in, I believe that they will perhaps release an expansion later on down the road to implement pvp in some form. Most likely arenas and duels. This way they will generate more money by attracting the people that prefer PvP and will keep those that don't like it, because it's optional. I know that SOE isn't stupid, and they enjoy their money, and it only makes sense that they will put pvp in to draw in more players. It will be a book of discord that you actually buy. :)

The most recent response that I found was from Moorgard at EQLive EQII website on 11-09-04.

Hope it helps some...

And that, my friends, is that. Moorgard is the community guy (for those of you who don't know him.) He said "currently planned" so that leaves them with an out if they do add it later.

Personally, I don't see it happening. I don't think it fits with the story near as well as it does in some other games. Yeah, there are opposing cities, but how often do you see someone from the opposing city? And why would you want to kill someone who's from your city? Granted, City vs. City would work, but how often would you fight before you were in your 20's, if not even the 30's (I don't know when leveling spots start to mesh together.)

First, to start, I am the type that most likely would not participate in PvP at all unless it is with friends or a guild event.

I believe that SoE will most likely add PvP later in the game, either with seperate servers, an arena type thing, or duels. For those that say PvP cannot work with the current story, I can definitely see it working in the future. Right now the cities are expanding their own influence, carving out their own places in the world. As the number of people in each city grows, and they become more powerful, their reach extends further. Eventually they will collide, and they will run out of feasible places to expand to.

I could definitely see a PvP system where outposts are taken and conflicting sides fight over these outposts to expand their influence across the realms. However, I don't believe that they would fight just for the sake of fighting (I'm good, you're evil, die scum! just doesn't make much sense to me).
