Is BLM more fun with the new abilities or does it still feel more or less the same?

I like the new abilities, it seems like fun trying to keep Enochian up and whatnot. I don't have a solid rotation worked out yet. However it doesn't play much differently than it did prior to 3.0.
It seems every time I cast Ley Lines I have to dodge something but oh well. On some aoe I will cast and the move to the very edge of my circle and might be able to avoid it and stay in the circle.

People over on bluegartr are losing their minds how bad the Job is now but from everything other then the new Ex Primals I've had no trouble killing mobs so ¯し(ツ)_/¯

EDIT - I have not stepped foot inside the EX Primals yet but I've cleared everything else.

Finally hit 60 on MNK last night. I have to say, leveling overall really isn't that bad. I still have a ton of side quests to do, didn't really spam that many dungeons and only hit up a few fates.

My only real complaint is the pacing seemed off at times, being able to do huge chunks of the story, then only advancing it a touch and having to gain almost a whole level before moving on. Guess some of that is partially my fault for not doing much of the side quests/other leveling things.

Now to finish the MSQ and decide whether it's worth leveling MCH in hopes SE will buff it, or focus on another job entirely.

I think it was done that way to encourage you to run some dungeons to gear up a bit. Especially post 57, when you need to start preparing for the iLvl 142 requirement of the final fight.

No, if you were going at the regular pace and actually enjoyed the story they block you numerous times even with quests in between. They did however expect you to do FATES but didn't take into consideration their "speed bump till alexander" by giving them abysmal EXP for the work kinda made no one want to do them.

Like in 2.0, the story outpaced you, sometimes by 2 levels unless you went in at 50 from 1.0.

One of my complaints was the astronomical amount of useless gear it dumped on you through the storyline. It was a good gesture but at the same time, chances are unless you were REALLY against it, you'd have better gear from the dungeons by time you did the sidequests/main story. They dumped all of that gear on us and refuse to increase inventory in order to sell more retainers.

I hit 60 this week. Kind of disappointed that 3.0 is just more of the same. Grind the same 2 or 3 dungeons for tomes. I was hoping they add a little more variety. Maybe that will come in the 3.x releases.

Getting to 60 wasn't to bad. Got there in 10 days. Mostly just from dungeon grinding and MSQ. I did some side quests, but wanted to save those for other classes.

Ya, I'm in the same boat. The new maps, mounts and all that were a welcome addition, but the same formula is getting tiresome. I've taken several breaks since ARR's launch and I have a feeling 3.0 is going the same thing. The way the game is designed though, I'm not sure what else they could do. Though, Yoshi seems to be happy with people subbing, getting caught up and unsubbing for a couple months until another major patch hits and re-subbing. So we may get more of the same for the next couple years.

He did say he's happy with this format because for the most part people are happy with it. They can do so much more but....

Anyway, he also said 4.0 won't be anywhere NEAR as large as 3.0 and for an expansion after finishing all of the available 3.0 content, it does feel insanely small for one. Just comparing XI's first (Zilart), while there's "more content (if you count fates, fetch quests and leves as content in the grand scheme)" it feels like you're more inclined to stick with the vanilla, e.g people doing stuff more in 2.x content than 3.0 because quite frankly, there's nothing in 3.0 areas. So while it'll change in 3.1-3.x it does really feel like a patch (it is) more than actually..expanding. Like gameplay and such didn't drastically change like it normally does in expansions. Like for example XI introduced the Sky system in Zilart, which at the time and for that style of content was completely different from what you were already doing - in XIV, we already know how Alexander will be as he already explained not only the loot style (similar to what we've been doing the past 2 years) but the type of content is supposed to be coil like but not the high tier difficulty for at least normal mode.

This is why whether someone like it or hate it, I love how they evolved with XI through the expansions, and since numerous times people on here and official forums said "XIV's updates are larger and more complete", you'd really think the game would evolve so much more, especially after all of the 'We're focusing on 3.0, this is why we won't/can't do x for 2.x updates" it kind of feels like we definitely have to wait till 3.1/2/3/4 or w/e to really see what they did for this expansion, because for now it just feels like the exact same as 2.0.

While Flying is nice..it didn't truly add that much to gameplay as of yet. And before anyone says it, no, rushing or not rushing doesn't make you appreciate it more or less, it's just..when you think expansion you think a bit more evolution but it seems if any is to take place, it'll be a lot longer down the line.

Take for instance:

Yoship: "There will be a dungeon where you feel lost"

I never felt lost and I'm fairly certain he was likely referring to the final story dungeon. Given the flying gimmick, they could have designed a dungeon around flight, for example the main sections is the usual long hallway, but then you have to take flight in order to reach all sections of the dungeon or certain objectives could have required 2 party members to split and fly off in different paths (they have the ability to do this as seen by Turn 11)....it's just..this is why I'm "negative" about stuff because I know they have the talent for it. If they can sit there and give us a dungeon that gives no loot and is actually one of the best designed dungeons in the game..they could have given us one focused around flight >.>

It was enough gear to adequately dress two jobs that were not BiS at 50, I found.

I also found that most of it was selling for silly prices on the market boards and sold it all.

I mostly chose quest gear for bard and dragoon, the two jobs I'm most likely to take to 60 later on. Now, when I'm ready, I'll have all the gear I need. And as I get dungeon gear, I can convert that gear into materia, which I'll be keeping in anticipation of future relics.

Instead of making 9-12m ish on the 2 Tier V Crit/Det materia I got from my conversion...I am indeed also keeping it. I'm not optimistic it won't be a repeat of the olde relic progression but at the same time..I hope it is so I can actually sell these and afford my type 3 airship :l

Type 2 escalated quickly, didn't it?

We calculated out how many darksteel ingots we needed and our airship leader went "We need 729 cokes. Get to it."

Everyone cleaned out their GC seals for that, lol.

That's an understatement honestly lol. We pretty much had people who have mining level our darksteel ore slaves and people bored running Satasha and Qarn Hard after they ran out of GC seals lol.

I wonder if SE just felt darksteel didn't have enough use >.>
