XIV ARR is still the "new hotness", once general interest calms down, RMT will taper off dramatically as they move onto the next "new hotness". It's bad in XIV ARR because everything SE did to combat RMT hinders regular players mostly, and the economy is so sh*tty on most if not all servers that those tells for $4-8 per million gil likely catches many people eyes and keep them in business.
As proven with IGE, they're doing nothing wrong as a business so SE can go after them...but it would do no good because they're TECHNICALLY not breaking any rules, it's the farmers that are. I mean in terms of breaking the rules, Amazon and Ebay breaks every rule in the book because people make money on a company's product by selling it to someone else.
Ya, FFXIV is the new hotness, but doesn't this problem manifest due to lack of security measures against currency sellers? It has been about 8 years since I've played FFXI, and a little while ago I checked to see how the game was doing, and many people mentioned that the game became over run with Gil sellers there.
I know FFXIV is new, and people are hopping over to check the game out (as am I) but to see WoW, a game with over 7x the amount of players, handle thier gold sellers in a swifter method makes me think that SE just doesn't care. I mean, this is the economy of the game that they are just allowing to fall to ****, and the idea if I wanna continue to play, only having to compete with people who just purchase millions of Gil is depressing to say the least.
It just seems like they are turning a blind eye to big issue. And there seriously are no rules in the TS stating that the selling of in-game items for real money is a breach of service? Look what Nexon is doing to player who are cheating and making money, they are taking them to court.
I find it a nuisance if I must pay $15 a month to SE and have SE expect me to pay $5-$10 a month on gil from a third party. That is just...*ugh*
