I haven't included details of all the PvP gear but there are more in the full patch notes from the link above.

Event
A new quest has been added.

Marvelously Mutable Materia Level 19
Central Thanalan (X:23 Y:14)
NPC: Kokosamu

The strength of the Echo granted in the Binding Coil of Bahamut has been increased.
The Echo will take effect upon entering the Binding Coil of Bahamut, increasing players' maximum HP, damage dealt, and healing magic potency by 15%.
* Unlike other instances, the strength of the Echo will not increase upon total party incapacitation.
* The Echo will not be applied in Turn 3.
* The strength of the Echo is scheduled to be increased two weeks after the release of patch 2.25.

The Tidal Wave Shield and Tidal Wave Buckler have been added as rewards to The Whorleater (Extreme).
Players who have already used a Mirror of the Whorl to upgrade a wave shield or wave buckler prior to patch 2.25 will be compensated with an additional Mirror of the Whorl.
* These mirrors will be distributed via the moogle delivery service after the release of patch 2.25.

Players who have completed the quest "A Relic Reborn" in Version 1.0 can unlock the Hydra and Dhorme Chimera trials at the following locations:
A Relic Reborn: The Chimera - Coerthas Central Highlands (X:32 Y:7)
A Relic Reborn: The Hydra - Eastern Thanalan (X:14 Y:30)

Ventures have been added as rewards for treasure hunting.

The number of seeds obtained through intercrossing when using Shroud Topsoil has been adjusted.
This adjustment is intended to ensure balance with the number of seeds received when intercrossing using Shroud Topsoil in comparison to Thanalan Topsoil.

A system message will be displayed when Challenge Log entries near completion.

Battle System
The maximum PvP rank has been raised to 40.
New PvP gear has been added.
The following PvP gear can now be purchased from the Storm Private and Storm Sergeant NPCs at Wolves' Den Pier (X:6 Y:5)

Too little, too late. There's already 20 of them on the boards for every 1 house that's available. Nothing can be done to fix it anymore, this will just (probably) stop it from going from 200 gil to <100 gil on the boards.

It's probably a pre-emptive fix with individual player housing in mind, so to say its too early is more like it.

It's to stop people from getting **** like Leviathan made items and Carby items from quick ventures, they wanted us to waste time and gil making those things.

remember they said the new relic would be customizable.. ummm farming 9 books that give youre relic a predetermined stat boost until you get all 9 meaning everyone who does the same thing with the same weapon as you will have the same stats as you = customizable?

thats not how customization works... now if there were lets say 20 books on the list but you could ONLY choose 5 then at the end of the day everyones weapon would be different depending on what 5 they choose.. now THAT sounds like customization

also they postpone the relic upgrade to 2.28 because "not a lot of ppl have animus" even though they said on day one they didnt expect a lot to have it by 2.25? so ummmm that makes no sense, also if not a lot having it is such an issue to them yet they dont fix the problem by... i dunno increasing the atma drop rate and make myth farming give as many myth as philosophy did? (i.e 100 in every dungeon, 200 for main scenario etc etc)

Looks like someone else wasnt entirely pleased with the tiny changes for 6 hours of downtime and is DDoS-ing stuff. Which is silly, but probably accurate.

Odd, I logged right in this morning, went and flagged the quest (the boards were already wiped out of all cheap materia), and did my first turn in, converting 5 worthless materia into 1 worthless materia...

It's a great idea to remove useless materia from the game, by allowing us to convert it into other worthless materia in hopes that we might get something useful.

As for the Atma farming and such, I think it is working perfectly. While people claim they don't like it, they seem to be clamoring over each other to complete it.

And once they completed it, they left the zones, which are now back down to a comfortable level, so that people like me can go and do fates when we want (still have zero), and worry about things that actually matter.

As for the customization, be patient, it hasn't even been 6 months since they introduced the current tier of weapons, and people are still stuck between complaining that it sucks to get it, and why isn't there more. While all of the diehard players are already at the cap, waiting for a few of the heavy players to catch up to the hard-core players is not a bad idea, especially if it is meant to be party stuffs.

Take five materia to the quest giver and he will convert them into a random materia.

Sounds like you can give lower tier materia and have a chance of getting back a higher-tier materia, too.

Debate on the OF is whether people would rather do this or continue using lower-tier materia to spiritbond faster.

3 quick transmutation results

5x assorted level 2 materia = crafting cunning materia 2 (CP+2)
5x level 1 vit materia = gathers guile materia 1 (perception +3)
3x level 1 materia and 2x level 2 materia = earth materia 1

I'm curious as to what combinations can get you higher level materia.

Materia prices are going up. All the level 1 materia that was 100 gil yesterday is now 1-2k. Some of the level 4 that were going for 5-10k are up to 20-25k.(moogle server)

So glad I bought up a bunch of IV elemental mats when I had the chance. Wish I would have bought more.

Apparantly from my understanding it is based on the rank of the items put in.

3 lvl III and 2 lvl IV, 60% chance for a III and 40% chance for a IV, with a 0% chance for a V (since we dont have them yet)

1 lvl I and 4 lvl III, 19.5% chance at a I and 79.5% chance at a III, with a 1% (i'm guessing) chance at a IV (and the achievement for upping tiers).

Haven't been on yet so I can't test it, but from what I read on multiple sources, that is the approximate scheme.

That's actually very interesting!

So the key is to save those upper tier elemental materia and toss them in with lower-tier materia... kind of like a lottery to get a useful, upper-tier piece.

But you have to do it on a Firesday when the moon is full at midnight while facing southeast and humming the words to Greesnsleeves...

And cast Thunder on it anyway.

But only if no one has attempted to Transmute a Materia in the last 36 hours, with no mention of a timer, which resets if anyone interacts with the NPC in any way before the timer is ready.

Galka were "generally assumed to be male" and the assurance came from many male Galka of my acquaintance that they had "fully functional legacy equipment" - and they were popular among the ladies because no one could accidentally get pregnant Smiley: tongue
