I have a friend whos completely clueless as to how to play.. i.e dont know how to find his attacks/buffs and set them on the hotbar then use them, has n ides what to do or where to go, cant locate quest objectives on the map (doesnt know h ow to click on a quest and have it display where to go on the map) cant identify the difference in symbols between quest npc icon and main scenario icons etc etc...

basically is there a guide online explaining FFXIv for the completely clueless preferably with pictures (including what they should be doing/working on as they get to 50 (i.e hunting logs class quest etc etc) Id show em all this stuff myself but thats hard to do over the phone or text. Sooo any links I can give em to start?

I'm a new player and I got a bit of mileage out of this guide.

I would think that you should be able to explain these things better than any guide, since you know your friend. But there are many youtube guides per class. Whether they go in depth engouh for your friend, only you and they know.

I understand the difficulty of explaining MMO things to a newbie friend. I had to walk mine through it via a phone conversation. In the end, it wound up being said friend clicking through the tutorials instead of reading them. When he restarted and actually read everything he got it better than I had explained.

no it doesn't, at least from what I recall... even if you skip things, stuff shows on the edges of the mini-map telling you maybe you should go that direction even if you don't know how to find the log that says why. If you get to a point where you have too many quests to track then you already ignored a ton of tool tips and ignored chat logs. I'd say it's been a long time since I clicked through everything, but I did it very recently to get my 1.0 main through crap so I could server transfer him.

This and the in-game tutorials are really all you need. That and being willing to take the time to read them.

Probably not. The game should be pretty understandable, I've met 6-8 year olds in-game playing perfectly fine on their level 50 characters.

The game has also been heavily praised as being playable for various groups of disabled people.

So if your friend can't manage to play then they probably don't really want to.
