this is cool, but the only problem is level 50 characters wouldn't have a problem running to all those areas. they would never die. if you want to really see what people can do make it a level 1 race.

in ffxi we did this and it was super awesome. agro mechanics were different so it was a little easier to get around certain mobs. im not sure how this would work in 14. but level 50 characters for for sure have no problems. unless they HAD to be naked with no armor. also, you didn't say anything about cooldowns so PLD would have a huge advantage here.

needs some work but if you can come up with the most fair way to do it so there is actually some danger, I would love to see it.

Level 1 Jeuno race, I remember that!

XI was more suitable I think for a level 1 race, though, since you could set your home point (Return point) at the start of zones with Outposts in them. I think the route people did was San d'Oria > Ronfaure > La Theine > Jugner > Batalia, and you could save your points at the zone from Ronfaure to La Thein, then just inside Jugner and just before the Jugner > Batalia zone, as well as the Outpost inside Jugner since that was the most dangerous zone. Setting the HP took some time, though, so it was a gamble as to whether you should bother setting it at all places.

Of course, that assumed a nation owned the regional outposts. Much more challenging if they were beastman controlled.

I think a level 1 race could work in XIV under the same circumstances, in which you could set your return point to an aetheryte but not actually teleport there. So if you got KO'd, which usually happened in the XI races 3-4 times, you could just return and not have to start over from scratch.

One big difficulty with a level 1 race would be cutting off all of La Noscea as you can't take the ferry until you have unlocked the airship.

I would like to take a moment to explain my reasoning for the Level 50 level requirement.

Players are expected to traverse Eorzea as fast as possible with little interruption from enemies, think of it as a Speed Run. If I were to allow any level to participate then players of a lower level would be at a disadvantage, and likewise if everyone was a Low Level, it would eat up a lot of time, not to mention some players may have only just started and be locked to Limsa Lominsa.

Back in XI most of us would create a fresh level 1 alt for the races so we could start from the same city.

But I can see your reasoning for requiring level 50. After all, it's a different game.

Beware of anyone who is a Legacy character who transferred over. They have Hermes sandals.

Also. anyone on SSD is going to have an inherent advantage since zoning takes them 5 seconds instead of the 30 on a platter drive.
