This is exactly what popped into my head when I read his post too. And if the coffer the NM dropped had tomes in it, you can bet people would go back for it. It could be a random reward chest, just like the treasure maps, but with a better gear drop of course.

Oh that'll be cool. I always feel these dungeons to be interesting in landscape design but I feel that we never really make use of some of the rooms. I think the back-tracking idea would be an excellent motive.
Instead of Treasure Hunting, they could call it Mark Hunting... there could even be achievements tied to it, or they could tie it into GC's, or both, or any other number of other things.
The spawns could even be triggered by something like... WHM takes no damage during. King Tonberry then queen Tonberry spawns or what have you
