For those that don't know there is an addon for wow called Healbot. It is a raidframe addon that allows you to cast spells/abilities on group members by simply clicking on their name. You can set spells to any combination of shiftf/ctrl/alt + any mouse click. Shortly before I quit playing FFXIV I decided to see if there was a way to emulate this functionality and came across a program called X-mouse button control. While it's functionality isn't as smooth as an official addon, it can be used along with in-game /mo macros to the same effect.

It took me several hours to set up properly, but once it was I was able to have all my SCH spells set to cast with mouse clicks. I had to assign a full hotbar to F1-F12 and make a macro for each spell that included /mo targeting. I then assigned the F1-F12 keys to various combinations of shift/ctrl/alt+clicks (nothing assigned to normal left click as this is used for targeting party members when needed). You can also set up another key press to toggle the whole thing off/on so you can interact with objects/npcs normally if you choose to map normal right click.

This setup allows for quicker response time in healing/curing debuffs since you don't have to waste time targeting the party member and pressing a # key. It also frees up your main action bar for medica/succor/buffs/debuffs/DPS spells, etc. I set this up shortly before the addition of fairy macros and came across a great trick with the setup. I could set embrace to a F# key from the pet ability menu and then set a /mo physick macro to another F# key and then have the program "press" both when i right clicked, effectively allowing me to cast both spells on a single click. However since there were no /mo macros for the fairy i could target the MT, right click another member, and I would physick the other member while my fairy embraced the MT. This was very reminiscent of the Holy Paladin's Beacon of Light from WoW, which i loved.

To wrap up, this isn't doing anything that you couldn't do within the game if you had one of those expensive 12+button mice. And now that you can set up fairy macros you could very well set up something similar to the physick+embrace trick by setting specific targets in your macros. This just allows you a bit more flexibility and doesn't require you to constantly switch up macro target lines or have multiple macros set for the same spells.

*Small Warning* If you choose to mess around with this program, you might want to turn off it's automatic startup when you turn on your machine. Also, you should never change normal left-click. During setup I accidentally changed it and was unable to do anything with my mouse. I had to spend a good 15 mins working around the crappy dropdown lists with tab and the arrow keys.

Edit: Sh*t click.. lol

Good info to know and very useful, I'll have to give that a try. I have a few different applications in mind for it other than healing.

Speaking of healing, when are we going to see you in-game again? :D

Oddly enough I have been pondering re-subbing the past couple days. I know things will be the same for another couple months but I've been quite bored with the lady gone (she has been staying at her aunt's kennel to look after dogs while she is out of town). I spent most of my time playing as a tank since it was so productive and fit well with the group I was playing with, but if I do come back I will try to focus more on SCH or MNK.

I have been playing FFXI and while they certainly made it faceroll with the new ilvl gear it gets pretty boring by yourself. I started leveling an alt and they made it easy to jump in with all of the experience boosts available. I got dancer to 20 in about two hours fighting easy prey solo.

Yeah they did. I don't play it much anymore because of that fact. It isn't that I don't like the game, I absolutely love it. When I play it I always end up wearing rose tinted glasses thinking of 'how it use to be' and thinking of all the friends I made through it, but that was years past. I don't fault it for changing, and it's definitely a 'better' game for being more accessible than it use to be, but I miss the challenge, rewarding feeling, etc etc.

I just made it to 50 for the first time (I know right? Took my sweet-**** time), and I'm in the same boat as you in that regard. I took PLD to 50 this go-around but I'm wanting to check out Summoner and/or Black Mage. What server did you roll on again? I ended up reactivating my Legacy account which is what took me so long getting to 50 on Hyperion.

While this seems nice, it's a feature that is 'sort of' already available in game with the right macro setup. For example:

/ac Cure <mo>
/ac Cure <t>
/ac Cure <tt>
/ac Cure <me>

first line tries to cure whatevery your mouse is over,
the second your actual target (usually set to the tank),
third, the target of my target (if I'm targetted a boss),
last line, cures me if all of those other commands cannot be met.

Personally I don't use any macros, I heal with a 360 Controller and its as complex as Keep the Tank as my primary target.. directional keys up/down to select the party member, cast heal.. it springs back to the tank.

Things I sometimes play...

"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
"I want to be a unicorn!"
"Awww, why's that?"........
"So I can stab people with my face."

Except that doesn't work. If you put in a <t>, <tt> is disabled currently. If you put in <tt> before <t>, the <t> is disabled. Even just <mo> macros aren't all that great due to the fact that if you're hovering over a nameplate and a character is behind it (and they're different targets) the game will decide to heal the character and not the nameplate/party list you chose.

They're OK, but macro implementation for healing is clunky at the moment.
