I make about 60k per day just running the roulettes one time per day. The 10 k gil or so from running the dungeons, and 50k from selling potash with the 500 philosophy tomes you get. Doing those 3 roulettes takes me about... An hour and a half to 2 hours depending on the party and dungeons.

A casual coul easily make 20k per day if they wanted just doing the main story roulette. Thats 300 tomes you get which can buy 2 philosophy crafting items.

Im sure though that unless this casual player already has their full darklight, they would rather spend the tomes on the gear. In all honesty, unless you are really impatient and dont want to wait until you get ilvl 90 drops from coil or af2 or CT, you could buy the ilvl 70 crafted items. Besides that, money is pretty worthless at the moment anyway. I havent purchased a single piece of gear for any of my classes besides the ones required for a relic.

Until housing prices come down, i suggest not bothering with gil until there is actually a use for it.

Housing is the kind of casual thing that players who only have an hour a day can enjoy. It's more meant for casual players than hardcore players, really... but because of prices, you need to be hardcore to get it.

I would say personal housing would be along the lines of a casual player, but FC housing? Regardless, why would someone want to spend their 1 hour standing in a virtual house typing back and forth to people? I'd actually want to play the game. I look at FC housing as something like meeting place for weekly FC meetings to discuss goals, roles, etc. Not too many casual FCs out there that need these types of meeting....

our FC members will gather to craft together and will make parties while doing it. And do so for hours in the same location in Limsa.

I'd actually say that personal housing would be more for the hardcore players. With a FC, you can work together to raise costs, and costs of furnishings are shared, too.... but a personal house will require all the costs for land/housing/furniture to come from just one person. Plus, having a personal house will be a total e-peen thing.

Depends how much cheaper it is. If it costs 5 million, that's still cheaper than FC housing, but a lot to ask of one player.

I'm expecting personal housing to cost more than the average personal contribution would be for FC housing, unless personal housing is super small and simplified.... if it's as cheap as 250k, then everyone will buy a house, and that would seem to require a ton of space and additional server infrastructure.

What they should have done perhaps, is to give all fc's with at least 10 people in it a small plot of land. 25 plus would get mediums while 50 plus large ones. The cost of the house would be determined by the cost of materials (crafted house using all the crafts for something).

This would help drive the economy, while making housing a casual affair as over time you get to see your house grow. This would also let everyone enjoy housing and it wouldnt crash the servers. More zones would be needed, but not on the level of personal housing .

What i suspect they will do is have a zone line that enters your house like it did in ffxi this wouldnt take as much serer space as it did in that game as well. As for the price, i agree with thayos it will probably be as expensive as the fc houses but for your contribution as you would pay now (so 10-30 million

I don't mind that housing is expensive but I wish they had gone the route of letting us buy affordable land and making the house elements themselves be the expensive part. So as we obtained more gil we could grow the house or something. The fact that we have to choose a smaller plot now or no plot till months later when a small house house that could be expanded would have been satisfying to my FC both now when we build what we can afford and pleasing when we can afford to expand it.

Tome mats were under 5k on Ultros today. Just made my earrings and bracelet for less than what one would have cost me a few days ago. If I'd waited even longer I probably could have done it cheaper.

Quest and relic related materia seems pretty good still as do the "good" stat ones like vit and crit. Otherwise the bottom is completely Falling out of most markets.

Fleece tufts crystals all dirt cheap. There are some other posts stating RMT may be deliberately taking massive losses in order to drive sales prices down so that more people will need their Gil service. Lots of changes coming.

The real problem here is that personal houses will cost money. Not the amount. They should be free. Or at least a plot should. I enjoyed customizing my mog house in FFXI. It cost me money, but it didn't cost me anything to walk into it. And I don't count the "inn" as a "mog house". So instead I am gonna either grind out the 60-70mil i need to fully build a large free company house for me to have all to my self, or if it takes forever then I will just get whatever large house they have for personal use. Either way...it is silly for SE to charge for this. They are only pushing people into RMT's open arms. Especially casuals. I feel for you guys.

Maybe all this is happening because RMT has successfully infiltrated the higher ranks of SE.

so it should be free? Maybe they should've made the lower tier plots a lot cheaper (say 3 mil (baseded on a small plot), while the prime land went for (8 mil). That way you reward the people have worked hard to earn, but made the lesser plots within reach of the more casual gamers. Either way... You have to earn housing, like you have to earn equipment and other rewards in this game....it's got to cost something.


No one ever said they wanted it for free. Why do so many people not understand the concept of a middle ground? No one wants to be given anything, many just think the pricing currently is outrageous, which it is. We just want to be able to enjoy the content that SE put in the game, and not have to grind for months on end to obtain it. I'm fully willing to pay for it, and pay what is a reasonable amount. On my server, there are a grand total of THREE houses right now, all small plots. How do these prices make sense when less than 1% of the population can/is willing to afford them? I have a feeling that even come three months from now, there aren't going to be many houses being bought up unless there's an actual reason to get housing by then aside from a social/epeen reasoning... and that is sad.

I don't currently Craft or Gather. What I've done nearly every day/week (in order more or less) is:

-Beast Quests = 0
-Absolutely Duty Roulette for Hard (+40 bonus Myths) each day = 5k once a day
-Run Coil T1/T2 = 0
-Check for CT runs = 0
-Ultima HM = 0
-advance Story (unlocked Mog yay!) = 0
-Buy some food for Coil/CT = -10k or so each week

WIth this math I gain about 25k per week, running all of the content currently available, using all of my playtime possible. I have not bought any gear for new jobs lately, mostly because I want to have 120k in the bank whenever I unlock the Drake Mount.

See all the 0's?

If those things were just a medium amount of gil reward, such as 2k, then I would actually be gaining gil at a decent rate. Considering I play everyday, I would expect to be gaining just a tad more money. Currently there is just not much of a gil reward for participating in a majority of the battle-based content.

You make some good points.

I totally bought DL gear for my ALT. I totally blew gil on gear while leveling up every 3 levels.

I can fill the tank/healer/dd spots with ilvl75+ jobs, and yet I'm quite broke.

You are quite right that those who did not focus a lick on saving gil should not be complaining about being broke. What a majority of players are actually asking for is to be rewarding for playing something other than the AH. If you play 4hrs a day, no matter what you are doing, there should be some amount of gil+ at the end of that time. See my post above this for a list of activities that net 0 gil.

I feel asking for some gil reward for activities that focus on gear advancement is not at all unreasonable.

I still dont understand why ANYONE wants a FC house at the moment. Wait the 3 months for 2.2 and actual functionality to be implemented, and the price to get cut in 50% for non-legacy players, and 90% for legacy players.

Honestly with the pricing, and degradation of pricing built in, it is 100% obvious that the price in 3 months when 2.2 comes out is the reasonable pricing point for most servers/houses.

30 mil for a large plot at start of 2.2 is actually REALLY reasonable for any size FC, which is what it will be for legacy/non-legacy players.

I think you have convinced me it's time to bust out my scythe (Botanist not DRK) and level it up to start contributing. I know the guys in our FC who are comfortable with their gear levels have been focusing on Maps pretty much every night.

28 botanist now. What level do I need for the good maps? 40+ right?

I guess GC books and then Gathering Leves is the fastest way to lvl Botanist that I know of. Sound right?

Very legit and reasonable answer.

I would venture a guess that with 2.2 they add more servers for houses, specially if they are adding individual player housing then. With the lowered prices and increased functionality, they would be hard pressed to not increase the number of servers for housing.

Just food for thought/speculation.
