How awesome is 2.1?Follow

Has anyone tired a low to mid-level Battlecraft Leve? Say, around the 22-35 level range?

What is the EXP reward now? On par with the rate of EXP from Quarrymill Fates?

Sounds like running dungeons is the best way to level in that range now, which makes my day.

Leve exp is nearly doubled / tripled

Does this include battle leves and crafter leves? or just one or the other?
I would love to see leves become comparable to fates for bringing up other jobs.

Triple turn in crafter leves were nerfed. Battle and single turn ins were increased.

Yeah, level 40 fishing leve was giving me about 30-40k now giving 68k.

I'm going to be nice and not tell you how awesome 2.1 is. It truly is all the little things that make this a great update.

Did you notice you can set your character to "Cutscene Skipping" now?

I'm going to set this first thing!

I'm going to run all the new dungeons and Crystal Tower and then set this until the next update.

What are your favorite new functions?

Can anyone describe how useful the new Bulletin Board system is? Do you think it will decrease the functionality of the standard Duty Finder (by decreasing the pool of players queued)?

I managed to squeeze in a couple of Duty Roulette... um... spins? as a Scholar this morning. A quick Ifrit Easy Mode fight and a Guildhest later, and I had some Philosophy and Myth Tomes and 2 <3s in less than 20 minutes without a hitch. Smiley: thumbsup

Sweet! New players can get DF help for Easy Mode Ifrit again! That one wasn't popping very quickly last week.

Sounds like the lower level content is relevant again, since the Roulette is giving rewards level 50's want. This is really going to help the newest players advance the Story content, with help from experienced players, for the foreseeable future.

I forgot to mention, it points out which role is currently in short supply for each Duty and offers extra rewards if you sign up as that role (not to mention you'll get in right away), which is very handy if you have the available class/job for it. Not surprisingly it's usually healer or tank.

The "Extra Rewards" are 50% more gil payout when you finish the dungeon. Which really isnt impressive at all when you realize you get 1500 gil for finishing most of them, so an extra 750 gil on top of that. Hardly incentive enough.

750 gil will get you a roofing nail for your house though!

Man I totally wish it was! (Our release point is 2.7 so this is actually getting a little confusing for me.)

I didn't have much time to play but I counted four summoning bells in the Gridania market area. This makes me very happy. Also for the controller users here, adjust prices is first in the menu now. I keep sending things to the armory chest because of that atm but it's a nice change.

I'm a PC/Controller player.. so the changes that have been made to controller options, like that we can now Un-bind a few keys (Mainly L3, which is an auto-lock on, I don't know how many times thats almost killed me while trying to run away from a mob), plus adding a 3rd hotbar to our key combos so we wont need to always switch them (though I've gotten adept at that).

You can now right click an item in your inventory and "sort" and it very nicely autosorts all of your tabs, I swear it's more organized now than when I would manually do it.

Tomes for doing lower level dungeons.. I may be 50 WHM but we have 470 person FC.. with people at all levels of play so I do run lower dungeons quite often (I'm not an end-game player very often), so that personally will help me.

Tell me more of this?

Are you saying I have 3 Hotbars on screen for a controller now not just L2 and R2 or whatever button they are now?

if true that just made this the greatest update in MMO history for me

Kind of yes, by default, L2+R2 opens up the one side of hotbar 8 , and R2+L2 opens the other side of that bar. You can change which hotbar these are set to in your Character > Hotbar Settings > Cross > (under) Expanded Hold Controls.

The patch seems great so far, especially the War changes. MT t1-4 last night with it even holding both dreads was a piece of cake. Pvp seems unbalanced atm but fun. Not had chance to try anything else yet.

Warrior got some needed boosts. But they're not the amazing DPS/tank monsters they're being made out to be. They deal the same amount of damage they did before. They got a slight buff in damage due to Unchained CD being lowered from 180s to 120s, but also received a slight nerf with Internal Release going from 20% crit to 10% crit.

Those are the only changes that affect WAR damage in this patch, aside from any changes to gear that may have occurred.

But WAR itself is now on par with PLD in terms of soaking damage. PLD needs some help now in making the class "interesting." It's effective, but simple. You Flash for aoe threat, with CoS when it's up, and you RoH combo the main target. Utilize cooldowns as needed to absorb damage/silence and toss in the odd stun. There's no choice though. You use RoH combo for everything. PLD needs a bit of help in the aoe threat department, so maybe tying Riot Blade into buffing CoS would be nice. Have CoS grant extra emnity when used after Riot Blade, as well as a boost to potency. Make it so the DoT portion also generates extra emnity after a combo.

Or not. But do *some*thing. PLD is effective but boring, and that's no good.

So I ran a few dungeons last night... Wound up getting like 800 tomes of Philosophy and buying my Darklight Chest armor and got my Hero's Ring too... my item level is 63 at the moment, I feel that is pretty decent for my 2nd week of end-game.

Did you know that if you run the main storyline dungeons (the final 2), that you get your normal 100 tomes... and then a bonus 200 for using the roulette... I got 300 tomes for doing 1 dungeon that was super easy because everyone was doing the same thing I did and queuing up for the extra tomes.

Yeah I plan on doing this after work today. At that rate, I'll have the rest of my Vanya gear by next week :)

I think I read you only get the big 200 tome bonus once a day though... is that right?

800 Tomes is huge?! Was that using DF only - or were you in a FC group?
