I still don't understand the mechanics

So if jobs are a hybrid of classes, does that mean in a group setting there's support roles? I love the idea of having a class or job that maybe isn't a top damage dealer or a top healer but can help out by doing damage and then supplementing the healers in heavy damage situations.

Basically, is going to be a situation where some jobs provide support or auxiliary roles rather than straight damage, healing, or tanking?


Random anecdote. Back in WoW, way back, my hunter would have to do damage but would then also have to provide CC. Or even just kite, where my damage was irrelevant as long as I did the required crowd control. I miss that and am hoping for those support roles again
